Experimental Grow

it's ok to transplant as long as you don't disturb the root's too much ... tho i dont know how u can do that since you're using gravel .... maybe she got a rootball that could keep the gravel from geting apart ? dunno.

What you can do though, is to get another identical or just 1 size smalles container , fill it with the gravel/soil mix you're using and cut the bottom of the plant's pot and put it on top of the new one. the tape the junction . that should get you more room to root :)

Peace mate !

I just smashed the 48 watt CFL. Fucking idiot! Had it sitting precariously and when I went to put the plant back in after a watering I knocked it and it fell about 15cm and POP!...no more globe. Cant believe it, of all the globes to smash, it had to be that one. I CAN easily afford a new one and will get one tomorrow night, but its just a waste of damn money. Im quite annoyed. Luckily, it will be worth it once Im smokin some home grown bud.

Well until next update...Peace

trifase & spindles - thanks guys. Its lookin a lot better than I was expecting it to look at this stage of the grow (6 weeks or so from seed).

Attic - Absolutely. I was always weary of it and so never tried it. But after doing it on this grow I can say that I wont be doing another grow without LST. I'm looking forward to my next grow whenever that will be so I can properly LST from the beginning.

Thanks! an yea I agree, a transplant would have been interesting. But I just dont want to risk stressing it and so have decided not to. I may regret the decision but dont want to risk it.
And I veged for 3 weeks and have been on 12/12 lighting for 2 1/2 weeks. Would have veged longer but wanted to avoid having vertical space problems...an then decided to LST at the last minute and am left regretting not veging for longer. Oh well...

well you probably won't have root-bound issues if the plants stay small and compact under cfls - it may be the best call nontheless since you have such an unusual medium (who knows, moving that gravel could have chopped the roots, gravel it's sharp!) just be sure to water often as the plant becomes more demanding and the pot stays the same.

about vegging, I've seen that even 12/12 from seed makes sense in small environments... no/short veg gives you maybe less plant-mass and bud sites, but hormones are more to each shoot therefore you'll probably get a few, but bigger :) plus it's not that you have a 1000watter - that case the vegger the better lol :D - that amount cfls wouldn't do good on a behemoth plant

so everything looks fine :) good calls - keep us posted!!!

I hope you're right re the root space issues. But I reasoned the same as you, that the gravel would not be the easiest to transplant and could have possibly caused too much root damage.

I hear what your saying about a smaller plant and what not but if as its turned out the plant in quite small, easily could have gone 2/3 times bigger with the space I have, and I could have just bought more lights to cover it, which would have equaled more bud. Not that Im unhappy with what I've got. Tis gonna be shweet...

----------------------

How long do y'all think it will be until harvest? 5 weeks? An how much you thinkin I might get? Im hoping for a 1/4oz...anythin more than that an Ill be happy.

short plant with fat wide leaf = indica dom = 8-10 wks,
tall plant with long skiny leaf = sativa dom = 10-14 wks
by far the best way to tell when the plant is ready to harvest is by looking at the trichome
you want to harvest at about a 40%-50% red to white ratio. you will need a minimum 30x zoom microscope (radio shack)
flush plant by feeding plain water no nutes for last 2 wks (improves taste)

UPDATE:
Cant see it in the pics but I burnt the plant on the light after trying to adjust it...in 3 spots. Should be alright I think, doesnt seen to major...just looks a lil yuk.

ALSO, Im freakin out here atm... I did a node by node search of the plant and found 2 balls and a possible third one sprouting!!! Does this mean its gonna turn fully hermie or could it be just a few stray balls? I dunno what I should have done but I broke off and disposed of the balls (hence no pic of em...but Im sure of what they were). Cant believe this...she (he/she?) has been going great over the last few days, gettin real hairy...and now this.

you cant get any more true hermi then 1 ball

100 more is not going to make it more or less of a hermi
just cut them off as you find them

Yea I know that its technically either hermie or it isnt, but Im just wondering whether some sprout more balls than others. Could it just sprout a few here and there or will it be inevitable that there will eventually be a lot? Im hopin that I can just keep a close eye on it and pull them as soon as they show themselves, as you say, if there's only a few. If it goes fully blown, and sprouts countless balls there wont be any saving it an Ill be quite disappointed. Fingers crossed

Cheers for the condolences mate...hopefully it can make it through and doesnt sprout too many more nuts. Tis getting a daily node by node inspection now.

Good to have you along too... you've come at a good time, tis really starting to bud now. Starting to produce a real nice pungent smell now. Im hoping to have about 6 weeks left and finish by mid June, but it'll probably run longer.

Quick Pic:
You can see one of the burns in this pic, Tis not pretty...

Cheers trifase and that5shit, you've put my mind at ease. I'm just going to have to be vigilant by the looks of it...that I can handle. Ill keep that spray in mind but so far its lookin ok...havent seen another one yet so fingers crossed its not gonna sprout a lot.

An yea I wasn't too worried about the burns...but they do look quite ugly. Every time I look at the plant Im reminded of my stupidity. lol.
