Experiences using Cold Pressed Neem oil for Spider Mites

Hi guys,

The other day i found what seems to be the start of spider mites in my garden :wall:

, before going into flower i've decided to make an Organic insecticide to stop there life cycle and rid of them.

The Mixture-

5 Litre bottle of water
30ml of Cold Press Neem Oil
15ml of Ecover zero washing up liquid (no dyes,perfumes and completely plant based liquid)

This mix has been *recommended* to me but doesn't seem like personally anyone has done it themselves that i know.

Has anyone had any experience using this mix or similar? What was your measurements? Your results? and how well did the plants react? Was your mite or other insect problem afterwards ?

Im seeing all sorts of people having good and bad experiences but i have noticed that some measurements were completely off or dish soap was extremely harsh in degreasers and other chems which may contribute.

The problem i am trying to steer clear away from is the burning/browning it can cause to the leafs! Does anyone have experience with this concoction and how did things turn out!

I heard Neem oil with an organic soap does do the trick but what I have personally used is Canola oil (the cooking oil type) with plain water. One cup of Canola oil to 3 gallons of plain water.

After those get started they are a b.... to deal with.... the best thing to do is make the environment inhospitable for them from the beginning .... I hope you can do the following
that means: not so dry.... control the humidity (and air movement)
and not so hot.... control your temp.

Neem will probably help if they are not too bad and it is not too strong. The basic idea of the Canola oil is to coat the little buggers with oil so they can't breathe. They hide in the beginning on the under side of the leaves while they reproduce geometrically and can overtake your efforts to control them very fast.

Is canola anti-fungal and anti-mildew?

Hello there,

Had the start of red spider mites on one leaf (indoor growing) about a couple of weeks ago - I used 1 tablespoon neem oil + 1/2 tablespoon washing liquid (the one i had at home) + 5 ml wetting agent in 1 litre of water.

Sprayed the plants when lights went out and before it went back on for 3 days - They are all gone an no sign of mites as we speak. The one thing i learnt though, is that this mixture can stay effective for a maximum 24 hours - If you exceed that timing, then you need to do a new mixture before spraying again.

best shit i have used is 2 good sprays of fast knock down fly spray lol

I would suggest you continue to check because from my experience it's highly unlikely you've completely eliminated spider mites with one spray of neem oil, or one spray of anything for that matter, if in fact you actually had mites?

Dude they will be back. They are relentless remember just cause you dont see them right now doesnt mean they arent still there. All it takes is 1 and they are so micro a few are bound to survive whatever you throw at them. Also these fuckers evolve to be immune to the chemicals you use. All you can do is fight and keep the population down. This is my experience with them.
