try to go through an identity theft issue and see how helpful the c.r agencies are... heck see how helpful the gov is on it too.. dealt with many folks who would see our agency and the local gov appearing on their c/r's only to let them know they got a ticket for no seatbelt no lic driver and unreg vehicle.. they say they sold that car.. have to see proof.. ref them to DMV.. (you know how helpful these folks are so... ) they would get proof of selling car.. would have to set them up for a court date to appear and show proof of sale..
court dismisses case.. person then has to go to a different area of the courts to show court minutes.. then that office must then release any fta/ftp holds on the d.l then refer them back to the original collection agency who needs to see court mins they will call court to confirm court mins.. collection agency then will ONLY OF ASKED.. provide the person with a letter to take to creditors and c.r agencies to show the dispute.. (some collection agencies could "bullet" the credit report and it would show disputed/ then removed after 30 days) however this was only done if the person specifically asked for instant updating to the c/r and if that office could do so...
no apologies... it's your fault according to the attitude you get.. no matter if it is not.. it's still your fault.. your a deadbeat till proven innocent and then if your innocent it's only because someone else screwed up...
total time usually about 30-45 days for a court date.. (sometimes you were able to get 2 week appearance but it was rare..) you also could submit a letter to the commissioner and see if he responds ..
