exp. grower stumped by deficiency new to me..any help appreciated..

Greetings..am new to this forum, as I was searching for solutions to my perplexing issue..Seems others may have exp in this area they may share? saw lots of helpful posts to others,..so am hoping may get some kind souls to shed their light MY way! Specs..soil medium,FF,..2gal pots,2wks into flower,plants approx 3ft tall, not sparse or spindly,fat white roots peeking out at bottom..all of a sudden have blothchy fade-in yellowing on mature leaves,..and 1 looks entire pale..I did treat with calmag..no ferts,and a tad of ph down...2 days ago..easily on both,..getting worse..i see postings regarding similar looking plants,..and the helpful sticky..possibly nitrogen needed? plants on 5-50-17 and ph down, every other watering..water approx 16oz per plant..using 1000hps..humidity range good..47-51 depending on watering, and air outside intake..temp approx 65 lite off...75-79 lites on....end result is the curling up brown crunchy tips..has not effected some..has effected others..assume some will be strain related, as in preferences,..but not that major side by side..I read the post about no pics with hps lites onso will post pics tomorrow,..but ANY words of wisdom before then are much appreciated..

Thx for reply! beautiful fat n white...it seems to be just starting whatever it is..i use 2gal for indoor...10 gal tubs for outdoor...in thinking back, the only thing I did differently this time was forego wormcastings when mixing mediums..

Your 5-50-17 fertilizer is way out of line this early in flowering. Typically, I continue my veg fertilizer the 1st 2 weeks of flowering, than go to a 50/50 mix of veg/bloom ferts for another 2 weeks . Then switch over to 100% bloom for a month or so and then plain water the last week or two, depending on strain. I use Botanicare nutes but I've found if I switch to bloom to early, the plants yellow way too quick. The bloom fertilizer you are using (is it's Peter's?) should be used after major buddage has formed, not early in flowering. Pic's would be helpful but that's your 1st problem. Small pot size is an issue too. Lastly FF soil typically has a lot of nutes in it already and you should be using a lot less fertilizer overall because of it.......

wow! more information! thank you..jotting stuff down..comparing ,of course...planet marvel,nutriculture is the 5-50-17 type..and truthfully, I have always flushed when I flipped..then straight to the bloom fert,..without this issue..obviously its NOT working anylonger..Duh! previously,had only 1 strain...currently have a few different strains, its maddening that side by side look so different! one lush,green,glossy...1yellowing...everything same to all the girls, so would you recommend something different, or isolated rather for them specifically? have seen epson foliar feed,for mg fix..kind of starts off looking like mg def in rollitup deficiency chart..but ALSO like nitrogen deficiency....

If I could see the plant, I'd be able to make an educated guess. Every strain has different requirements- some like more ferts (usually indica) and some like less (usually sativa), some strains like sprecific pH ranges, others don't seem to care what it is, some plants just need additional cam/mg, some like more light....I could go on. That's why it usually takes a few grows to "dial in" the strain. And even within the same strain, I always find 1 or 2 runts out of maybe 25 plants that just don't seem to do as well as the rest of the room. I always grow a few extra plants to swap into a room if a plant is not doing as well as the rest......

At this point, I would suggest you do a mild fertilization and then check the pH and ppm of the runoff from the bottom of the plant doing poorly. I believe your answers lie there........

i would say N def as well your plants really need that N for their stretch, some strains can just handle it differently. i would up the grow for a while and see if that fixes the problem. but let us see some pictures before you do anything to your ladies!

Will have pics on tomorow..and 1 to compare to, as well...1 statement I will also investigate further is strain different preferances...how funny 2 in question are both Indicas..and as I look the other way,..its the skinny leaf sativas that dont seem harmed..

You need to remember that nitrogen becomes almost unneeded by the plants after 2 to 3 weeks into flowering (after final "stretch" growth). There for it should not. be surprising that your leaves begin yellowing. In fact it is expected and perfectly normal since nitrogen is the nute that keeps our lovely ladies green. You need continue with your regular bloom nutes schedule (whatever that may be).

Unfortunately it seems you had a bit of a knee jerk reaction and added un-needed "extra" nutes and ph down, etc... I hope that doesn't create problems where you had none. Pics always help. Good luck and cheers.
