Exhaust question. 2 in line fans (different CFM) in the same vent. Advice needed...

I have a 3 x 3 x 6 tent with 30 Gallon Rubbermaid DWC. My temps were high so I added a 160 cfm fan. I attahced it to the tent through a vent. The vent hose is long (due to location reqauriments) I have my 160 cfm going into a DIY carbon Scrubber (made with wire mesh inner outer core, carbon and pantyhose). I also had an extra 80 cfm fan that I added to the top of the tent.

So I have the small in line fan at the top of the tent, 6 feet of vent hose then the 160 cfm in line fan into the scrubber.

Is having the varying cfm an issue? Has anybody done this?

My temps are staying perfect and the scrubber is KILLING the odor. (I found the plans on here, A+)

you mean the two fans are pushing air through the same duct? this wont increase air flow, it will only go as fast as the fastest fan.

it will increase pressure so it will overcome restriction better but it will not increase cfms or only by a very small amount

I have two identical inline fans in serial.
This makes them twice as strong, but not any faster, exactly what I needed to suck air through my Carbon Filter (it had to much restriction for my single fan).

Might depend on the fan though, I don't know. Mine are designed that way (S&P TD 100), so you can either make them twice as fast or twice as strong (parallell or serial).

I have monitored it over the last 5 days and it works well. My temps have stayed better than ever. I used to be a solid 82 degrees plus and now it stays at 75 or less and humidity is up.

This worked for me. What I think happened is the bigger fan is pushing air harder into the scrubber but since it is 8 feet away from the tent top it really helps. The smaller fan is doing good moving air from the 3 foot hose going into the tent.

I did this becasue I had the spare fan and it worked. I bought cheap inline fans from the dePOT.

I had the same issue as you. I needed the extra power to push it through the filter. When I had one fan alone it was strong enough to pull the hot air out and into the filter though my long hose (I have set up restrictions that require the long hose).

If anybody has this issue, this is a good solution.
