Examples of GOP Leadership

Some honest, intelligent patriots do get mixed up in the dirty laundry of politics but then they get kicked off congressional committees by vengeance seeking republican House Speakers.
Yeah,McCarthy has weakened the Intel. committee w/personal vendettas and seeing that Taylor-Green witch elevated to powerful positions is so nauseating, If the Dems. didn't FK up the seats in New York we wouldn't be where we're at today, took their eyes off the ball and assumed NY would automatically stay blue.

True,no matter how noble a individual's goals in politics may be,I expect them to inevitably compromise on their ideals just to make it,there is no way to garner the support and put together a posse to get elected without outside influence's having a effect on one's platform. As things are today ideals are watered down and divides have turned into valleys. I miss the days when politicians disagreed over policies but didn't have the level of animosity that now exists and could be pragmatic and compromise to move our country forward.
Everybody could compromise as long as black folks were thrown under the bus, now the parties are polarized and black people are strong in the democratic party, no more compromises. It is basically, if they get healthcare, nobody gets healthcare, education instead of a state wide thing became not even a county thing, but a neighborhood issue and school quality depended on the neighborhood and housing prices reflect this. It was the same with hundreds of municipal public pools that were shut down when black people gained access.

Face it, racism and bigotry are what holds the republicans together, stupidity and hate epitomized by Trump, their undisputed leader. George Santos wasn't a bug for the republicans he was a feature, cut from the same cloth as Trump himself. They have gone full blown fascist and antidemocratic, are unfit and unworthy of any sensible person's vote, they would be voting for a terrorist organization, or one that tolerated it and took advantage of it, they took advantage of Russian money and help too FFS. All the decent and patriotic people left the party, all the brains and are among the modern GOPs loudest critics, many giving stark warnings. There is no choice for a patriot or anybody with a fucking brain, it could not be more clear, one side supports democracy and the rule of law. While the republicans abuse power and do not believe in democracy, just lying and conning their constituents, while being lead by a psychopathic moron!

Trump sure failed that one spectacularly! So did many republicans, banning and burning books comes to mind, as well as interfering with education and private sex lives. Oh and don't forget abusing their offices and power in congress too, now to bankrupt the country and violate the 14th amendment by the magats in the house.

Yep, ole Abe was right and wouldn't recognize the republicans today, though the shadow of the civil war hangs over them and drives some of them.
It makes me ill when today's republicans try to claim Lincoln...Lincoln would tell trump to his face that he was a cheap petty piece of shit, and everyone on the sedition carcass should be locked up. It's insulting to the memory of a great man to associate him with those fascist fucks.

I'm sure the rank and file still live by the rules. It's just the P's and VP's who the honor system applies to.
It is the rules and their application that is in question, proper transition procedures and even documents senators might have or notes they might take about secret documents. Things need to be tightened up and I'm sure the pros are making suggestions and proposals to the elected officials.

No matter what the rules or procedures were though, Trump would have violated them anyway, he is a compulsive life long criminal and profoundly stupid.

that's not all that is in question, to the rest of the world who are sharing intell with us. what is in question to them is our ability to keep that intell secret, and we're not giving them much reason to believe we can. and on top of that, we're putting KNOWN TRAITORS on important committees....serial liars like santos are getting committee positions. We look like idiotic lunatics to the rest of the world...and a lot of people here.

Washington would have slapped him across the face in public, challenging him to a duel. Donald would have shit and run or George would have ran the fucker through! The quality of leadership has diminished somewhat since his time...

It's that more perfect union thing mentioned in the constitution, you are part of a process that is unfolding over time with technological change driving social and economic change. People are getting better over time with education and a larger culture with it's expectations. Liberal democracy arcs over centuries and it grows to include more people with more just laws, more evenly applied. The constitution was made to be amended and if political grid lock is broken, so too is much of the power of the courts. Too often the courts have had to step in because political change has not kept up with social change. America has minority rule, it is not enough to have even a sizable majority with gerrymandering and the senate represents geography, not people and they still have the filibuster of 60 votes. Even the POTUS can be elected by a minority of the citizens. More democracy would solve many of these issues, though some are inherent with the constitution and it's amendments.

Washington would have . . . . . . . . . . . . . .The quality of leadership has diminished somewhat since his time...
George was the man. He had to think on his feet just to get by in life. Long before he got into politics he was having a cash flow problem. Back in the 1700's there were regular booms and busts in the economy. The country was going through such a bust when Martha's dad died. She got the bulk of her father's slaves, but with everyone suffering from the downturn no one had the ready cash to buy any of them. And the Washington's needed to sell one every couple three months, just to have the resources to run their household. So the great man held a series of lotteries. One Pound per ticket, two hundred fifty tickets sold. The government gets 50 Pounds in tax and 200 free and clear for the Washington's. There is still an intact lottery ticket for a small boy.
