Evil's Transition to Hydro (Finally)

I haven’t ventured into the hydro world. I hear every blade of grass is that much greener. I’ll get there one day. For now I’ll be in soil reading and watching the hydro threads to figure it out when the time comes.
It just makes life easier to plan ahead of time. If you take the time before hand to make sure everything is right on measurements and you have all the parts you need and just go in with the mindset that there will be a trip or two to the hardware store regardless then you'll be fine and it will be fun.

Well crappy night haven't slept . Been working in the garden all night. Unfortunately a bit of bad news and it pissed me off because this run was looking to be one of my tops ever. Goes to show you something can always go wrong . Opened up the flower tent just because and started going through the plants and it seems a few of them had hermied or one did and a nanner popped or maybe (and I doubt this one) when I removed one of the males early in flower some pollen got around . My Satori x GG#4 got the chop as did both Vienna skunks . What was left of them just wasn't worth to finish flowering in my opinion . The three Dark Plasmas got a hair cut and I just tossed the two from the LED side in on the hps side. The Jawa Pie and my Satori x Skywalker seem ok for now so they stayed as is . The closet and the veg tent look great with the hydro going so no complaints there.

So hopefully the remaining plants are good and we will see what shitty yield I will have now lol. Looking forward to going shopping for veggies later and to getting the flower tent into hydro asap.

Took a cut off of the Blood Diamond and Suszy Q to try and root direct into rockwool cub s and not the Turbo Kloner just to see as I needed to trim those two down anyways .Also the sour hound Auto I have going in the closet in the F&D is looking fantastic .Need to transplant the 6 Auto Gorilla tomorrow from the center of the veg tent.

Hopefully no more surprises this weekend lol

Got the six Auto Gorilla testers transplanted and into the Flood & Drain setup in the closet. Spaced out the plants in the hydro in veg and found a surprise lol. Tonight is 9 days exactly since moving them from cloner to hydro..........

Looking really good, are you just running hydroton in the flood n drain?
I feel for you having plants hermie, happened to me for the first ever this run, real pain in the ass. I was lucky the other plants didn't decide to grow a set.

This was my first time as well. I will be checking in later when the lights come on again. For the flood and drain and the top drip both I am running just hydroton.

Minor update, I ordered 9" pots for the drip setup. The 6" pots won't hold for veg too long and the 9" will be final size so I will essentially veg and flower in the same pots to not mess with transplanting plants in hydroton and disturbing the root zone.

Also ordered the 4 bulk head fittings I needed for the 2 trays in the flower tent. Got a clone dome coming as well. If I can get consistent cloning in it, I can sell the turbo Kloner and one less thing with power to worry about. I also started a test on the 2 cuts I took last night in my make shift dome and started spraying them with a foliar of Rhizotonic since I still have some on hand. If it's as good for this as people say I will continue to do so just for cloning and early veg.

Next on the list is two more Flora Flex kits and getting the last tent switched over to hydro at least the first half of it..........

Also will need to decide if the COB's are staying up or not..................

Slowly but surely I'll have the room where I want it

Cheers

Well after much debate back and forth I decided I will set the flower tent up as a recirculating top feed just like the veg tent. The main reason is this allows me to run a smaller res vs FD and so I am not running through as much nutrients or having to deal with as much water when I pump and dump for a fresh res. As there is no water source in the grow room or a drain this becomes very pertinent. But, if down the road I can change that then to do flood and drain would just be a matter of the F&D fittings and a larger res .

I ordered all the parts I need to set both trays up in the flower tent like the veg tent . Gonna get pretty busy pretty quick here soon. Lot of stuff going on inside and out .

Gonna need to start selling off some COBs here soon too as I'm not going to be using all that I have lol...........

For what it's worth, I measure my nutes and put them into Solo cup type shot glasses. Each shot cup has enough nutes for 5 gallons of watter. It gets tedious since my plants are currently drinking over 5 gallons a day now so I make about 10 doses of nutes at a time- enough for 7-10 days.
