European bore worm!!!!

yesterday i found a hole in my plant with some white crumbly stuff on the outside i looked it up and found it was a European bore worm. i had to cut up to through the stalk about a inch from the entry hole and pull it out with tweezers. hopefully i got it before it laid eggs. pray for my stalk. the second image is a day after

How did cutting it out work for you? Ive heard of rushing the steam to kill the worm
