Err... I havn't started flowering @ 12 weeks...

Stupid question I'm sure, but will my plants that are outside (AK) on my patio start flowering on their own? Only reason I ask is because Ive had them growing outside since late January (from seeds) and only one of them has shown her sex, and even that only occurred about 3 days ago. I'm in a tropical climate and the temperature has been 70-76ish the whole time.

Also, they are only about 2.5ft tall at this point, shouldn't they be taller? They are not exactly in a huge container (about 7" across, 10" deep), but I would have thought they would be bigger. Its my first grow so I'm sure I made tons of mistakes. Any advice? Bring in the biggest one asap to start flowering?

Pictures would help alot. it could be cause a definency like root bound or just the plant stunted its growth. i cant really answer without pictures.

If they are 2½ feet tall now and only just showing their sex they should be about six feet tall by the time they're ready to crop. You could try putting them in an area that gets shade late in the day, you might be able to get them to flower a little quicker.

Here is a picture of what most of them look like. Had a little incident where my bunny got out of his cage and ate all the bottoms of my plants, so thats what it has no leaves 1/2 way down. :cuss:

As for actually forcing them to flower, I was just going to put a trash can over it with some ventilation, but I was not sure if I should actually start that yet since I wasn't sure if the plants were ready.

Any ideas?

that plant needs some serious TLC
Nah, she'll be okay, she's got good strong roots, I can tell. She could use more time to produce more vegetative growth before you trigger flower.

How big of a girl can you handle? The more leaves you let her grow the more buds she can produce, but as big as you let her get before you flower her expect her to get 2-3x her height if not more. She'll need a bigger pot too, about 1-1.5 gallons for every foot of height is all that's necessary I think, but 2 gallons for every foot of height is best.

Don't put her in shade, give her as much sunlight as you can she's a full sun exposure kind of girl, she'll grow fatter, denser and stronger and so will her buds.

What kind of food are you giving her? Looks like she could use a little bit more.

Thanks for the reply!

I actually don't want her to get to much bigger. Shes growing out on my patio, which if you couldn't tell from the shot is in an apartment complex (smell not an issue though). My "protective" barrier only goes up about 5ft tall. Poor planning I know:dunce: Won't make the same mistake again. I guess if I really needed to I could make the barrier a few feet higher...

Would it be ok to transfer her into a bigger pot? I kinda freak out when I transfer even the small plants around to new pots because I don't want to shock them to much. I assume at this point shes got such a deep root system that unless I just transfer her with out loosing any soil that she might get pissed and crap out on me.

As for nutes, I'm giving her just basic Miracle Grow tomato blend (ducks for cover). I only recently found a good grow shop here and have not had the time to go pick up anything better. I also have been very sparing in the amount of nutes given because I don't want to burn her. So far so good with that though. Think I should up the amount along with getting real food?

Thanks for the help!

If you want to bring her height down and also increase your yield there are a number of training techniques you can use, while your vegging it's not too late. Here are a few simple ones, check out grow journals to see how they're done: LST, Topping, Super-Cropping

Absolutely it'll be okay! The plants do go through a bit of stress when transplanting so you don't want to do it more then once or twice, definitely before you flower, but if you're gentle enough (like me with years of practice) then the girls will recover so fast you won't even notice a slow down. In fact, when the roots find fresh soil the plant will grow all the faster.

Scratch my last comment about wanting more food, tomato food is good for marijuana when she's making flowers, but because she's making leaves and stems she's craving nitrogen in particular. Fish emulsion is only $5 and in soil I know of nothing that works better for so little. When it's time to make flowers you can switch her back to the tomato food, or find another line of flower/fruit nutes.
