Epsom salt, how much, how often?

so i believe i have a magnesium def. so i got some epsom salt. that seems to be the way most deal with it. ive heard of a few different concentrations you mix using a gallon of water. i will be using distilled tap water so a lower concentration is probably good because of the existing ppm. any response would be great.
 
use a very weak mix per 1L of water there are 2 ways you can use it on your plants

1 - give it some while watering
2 - very weak foliar spray but do it when the plants aren't in direct light cuz this will cause hot spots on the leafs
 
I prefer using Cal-Mag from Botannicare with my nutes ... but I have used Epsom Salt in the past. I used a brand from the garden section of Home Depot ....and if I recall... I mixed 2 tablespoons to a gallon of water, stirred well and then filled a sprayer bottle and treated via the foliage (this was in Veg. stage). If in flowering stage I would definitely treat via the roots and not the foliage if possible.

1 teaspoon you can foliar feed for faster results
 
I whent to my local hydro store to buy some and he told me that I could use a bit of it in the water to increase the Resin production
 
1tsp per gallon of water is not enough, in my opinion. I always use and recommend a treatment of 1TBSP per gallon of water poured directly into the soil. For foliar treatments, I use 2tsp per gallon of water, misted gently on all the leaves.
 
gonna put a bit more in...thnks for that...i'll try a tblspoon per gallon...do you put slightly more feed in than the recommended?

it means 1gram per gallon as epsom salts is sold in powder not liquid form, liquid=ml/fl oz/gallon powder/solid =gram/oz/kilo etc
 
Just wondering can I burn my plant with this salt...never use it but thinking about add some to my soil and then transplant into it
How much for 25l od soil...and what Are the main benefit of IT. - cal/mag

Its not like lime, your better dissolving it in hot water and mixing it in with cold then watering into your soil or adding it as and when you water if needed.
Cal/mag contains calcium, magnesium and iron and is usually made from a nitrate so has Nitrogen in it too where magnesium sulphate is just magnesium and sulphur.
You shouldn't use cal/mag to foliar spray or at least not if its from nitrate form because it becomes carcinogenic and also doesn't get absorbed by leaves properly.
But magnesium sulphate/ Epsom salts, is absorbed well by leaves and thus can treat a magnesium deficiency faster by foliar spray.
