is that a regular socketr or did u buy it???I recently bought one from eBay and its workin great for me...mine came with a reflector and therefore a socket to plug it in with but as far as i know it fits in an E40 Edison screwsocket if that helps at all..

its bigger than a regular socket. If you buy a reflector with it it should have the right fitting, if not you can easily buy a ceramic screw in E40 holder or a cable with an E40 hanger on the end of it.
