Enough light???

I currently have 1: 300w Galaxyhydro led and 1: 600w Galaxyhydro led but theyre actual power consumption for the 300w is actually 125w. I have 7 plants right now that im flowering but my next grow i plan on growing 9 so im just wondering if i buy another 600w Galaxyhydro light, would that be enough light for 9 plants? im growing in a 4'x4'x6' tent.

make your own using 100w to 300w cobs

you get 1 to 2gpw with good leds

I like 600w of cob to replace a 600w hps remember a 600w hps normally uses 700w or more at the plug and with 600w of led you still get less heat so get to water less

depends how long you veg your plants for and what yield you want per plant

I would go 100w to 300w per plant but I like 100g to 500g plants you know if I have 2m of height and 4 to 10 weeks to veg them, obviously depends on the strain

If you get an aircooled hood you can build a super led rig that pipes onto your in or out fan, so no need to install fans in your led light

i have a 600w air cooled hps right now but i bought those leds because of heat issues
A watt is still a watt 600 w of LED puts out the same heat as a 600 w HPS except the ballast puts out a little heat. A good LED don't do much better than a good HPS per watt and I really have doubts on the penetration of an LED just so many points of light over 1 bad ass point of light. I would do a 1,000 myself especially if you just have 1 tent 4x4 if the do good you can pull 2 pounds but I don't what you got going on to reduce heat air-cooled hood plus another extraction fan for the room should keep them temps right down. I just never used a tent so I don't know if you would need to cut another hole or what.

do you think if i put another exhaust fan, i could use my hps and led?
your thinking wrong for this part
1 how much area do u have
2 how much area are u given to each plant (to flower in)

your talking about 9 plants in a 4x4 area that is less then half a foot squared for them to flower in (if u are in 1 gallon planter that might be ok but any other size that is to small they will be growing into each other making watering/feeding/working on impossible ) once they get into flower they are going to lock into each other growing the best way they can so moving them in and out is not something u want to do as u will never make them fit like they were originally

as for the lights ........the 1 600w should be more then enough light to grow in a 4x4x6 area the fact u have the 2nd 300w is more then enough ........u need to think footprint of the light (take 2 flash lights hold 18inch off the floor in a semi dark room see that light see the center how it is brighter then the edges that is the power the core in there the plant always makes more weed and dense buds compared to edges .....now bring in the 2nd light see how the core expanded ) that is what u did with the 300w

your good

i am sorry u are wrong LED does not put out anywhere near the same heat lvls a HID in IR heat or heat from the energy passing tho parts.......anyone that has worked with both knows this (Sorry not being a ass but u are given out bad info)
2 LED light gets in much deeper into the plant then any HID on the market do to the LENS the leds have (120/90/60 degrees).....some makers use a simple glass sheet as one lens others attach individual lens on the didoes .....the lens greatly effect the use able light depth 120 is like a hid 90 gets u 6/8 inches 60 i can not comment have not tried i have 90s)........this is the reason why LED grown plants have thicker leaves then one grown under HID the light is passing tho it more get to lower

Not gonna say anything bad or good about LED's since it is always a battle. I do have LED but also CMH and HPS, I am confused why there was a heat issue with a 600w HPS in a 4x4? I run a 600 HPS in a 4x4 with a 440cfm inline fan on the air cooled hood and I can keep it 12 inches from the tops, but I do vent outside of the room the tent is in so I am not just recirculating hot air.

it is do to the fact the HPS lightwaves are closer to the IR spectrum
i am not 100% sure right a old grower told me
MH light has about 40% IR heat
HPS has 70% IR heat
this is the reason it runs cooler even tho u are passing the same amout of energy tho it

i done crazier had 2 600w in a 4x4 for a while (one hps one mh) on auto flowers ........trick is to make a powered intake and use ducting for the intake to end be hide the fan that is blowing cool air over the plants leaves

i would run 11 degrees different from intake air temp to exhaust(intake point) temps .....440 cfm exhaust 240 cfm intake...under powered to keep negative pressure for smell control

You're ignoring efficiency. An HPS bulb, brand new, is about 35% efficient. So, for each watt, 65% is dissipated in heat, the rest in light. An LED array that is 60% efficient is going to produce 60% usable light, and dissipate 40% to heat per watt. So, you're getting less heat per watt due to efficiency.

You're also not very informed on LED technology.

I guess but they sure don't yield much more especially if one was to grow vertical I seen just over 2 gpw in a vertical grow just a lot of work and plants to copy that dude.

Of course you wouldn't grow vert with LED. That's silly. The point of going Vert is to take advantage of the 360deg light from a bulb. But you can build an LED array that will outperform it's HPS counterpart. It will have the same photon density, a better spectrum (2000K creates a lot of wasted spectrum), multipoint lighting, and on about 700W, will go toe to toe with a 1K, while costing less to operate and produce better bud. The journals are all over on this site. I'm not talking about a BS MARS panel, I'm talking about top quality COB LED.
