End of harvest HELP !

Week 8 of a 7-9 flower strain. Extreme yellowing. Started flushing last week. Planned on harvest around 10-11 weeks.


Ultimate Purple BC Bud Depot - flowering time 7-9 weeks.
Fox farm ocean forest soil - feed ph balanced water and feed fox farm trio nutes every other water.
1000 hps - 79 degrees lights on - 70 lights off. Air circulating 24/7.

Thank you for the reply. @MintyDreadlocks. What are your thoughts of Ripe bud harvesting ?

I was initially going to cut at base and dry whole plant then trim.
But I have seen ppl talk about harvesting parts of the plant over a few weeks.

Your plant seems far enough along to harvest all in one shot. If you're patient I think you would love experimenting with whole plant drying. This will be a slow process but will be some amazing dry cured smoke when it's ready. I always harvest my weed wet. Trim off the big fans. Hang for a day or 2. Trim. Hang for day or two. Than jar.

Honestly it's something I've wanted to do but haven't ever done. I usually do it traditional. Cut each branch and hang each one.

Though by hanging the whole plant id imagine your buds would continue to ripen. I've had tomato plants that I had to cut early because they were planted to late and only had tiny green tomatoes when I cut the plant. I hung the plant up and the tomato's got bigger and ripened (turned red) I'd imagine cannabis do the same. And that's why a lot of people do that if I'm not mistaken. Plus the slow dry preserves the terps better.

I just hung up a whole plant, which I'll post a pic of, on sunday. I'm at the point where I'm gonna start doing some trimming on it now which is friday. So that's six days and it's still not dry. Seems like itll probably take nine or ten days

Buds will have a slightly crispy outside when u squeeze them. The branches will also almost snap completely like a stick. I don't let them get that dry before jarring although that is rule of thumb. I prefer the stems to snap but not break clean.

Monitoring your humidity and temps are the most important factors. I use to get nervous about the dry and cure but it's truly easy and automated.

See I do it a little different. I wait for the outside buds to be a little dry or "crunchy" on the outside. But as for my stems I like them to bend NOT snap. Then I jar. I fill about half to 3/4 the way up leaving some room for air. Then I open the jars for an hour or so everyday for 5 to 7 days. You'll have some trial and error here and checking the buds often is the safest way until you have your own system. If you open the jars and the buds are really moist you need to leave em open longer. Do this until your buds are about where you like them. More than one way to skin a rabbit and just because people do different ways doesnt make one or the other correct.

I like them to bend not snap as well. You'll hear a snap but it won't break clean and itll bend the stem.

That's what you want for sure.

It's up to you. If you harvest earlier it will be a lighter more energetic high, and if you wait it will get a little more sedative. My wife really likes the early stuff, so sometimes I'll chop early. I've chopped a Sunset Sherbert at day 28 and day 31 and she's loves it. That plant is prone to nanners. Only once have I been able to get it to go 70+ days without nanners. You lose weight when you harvest early though.

Got any pictures of those buds cured chopped at 30 days? Would be curious to see how the early chop bag appeal looks

Here's a pic of a few of the buds from day 31. The rest is put away in jars. We didn't really manicure it. We just picked off some of the bigger leaves with our fingers, but didn't get really close. We actually rarely use the scissors to trim anymore. And I don't mind the sugar leaves if they're covered in trichs. Not quite as pretty, but it's way easier. The first couple times we trimmed the buds nice, but not anymore.

Funny because I just put a little of this stuff in this baggie the other day. I usually don't do this, lol.
Here's in a bag. It was more than twice as full yesterday before I gave some away.

Were the hairs even starting to darken yet when you chopped? I'm gonna have to try a early chop.
