Emergency move

Got a question for you all. So having to move my set up from basement to spare room for a few weeks or months. My question is that I'm going from a purpose built 6x5 grow room with passive ventilation to a spare bedroom with a window unit ac. I have always used a tent or room without ac and just passive exhaust. If I run an exhaust I'll just be working ac to death right? I'm working on it now so hoping for some guidance

Yeah the A/C will work harder if you use the exhaust. The air leaving the room will be replaced with air from the house or maybe outside depending on how good you seal the vent. Once you vent the room becomes a low pressure area and air is drawn into it. If the air is cold you’re great, but that’s not why you’re running the a/c in the first place.
I put a portable a/c unit in my dry/cure room and it’s not so great. 6 inch vent to the outside will flow some air.
Can you run the vent back into another room? You might get some cooling benefit from it that way.

Yeah its hotter than hell here now. I'll have to think it out but just venting to and from house somehow could work

if you are constantly replacing the conditioned air, the unit will try to keep up. i would put a timer on the exhaust, and keep the ac on economy setting if it has one.run the exhaust enough to keep fresh, ac's are very nice for keeping humidity in check, i have on in my grow room

I have an 8" ac infinity and can set a timer so it only comes on at certain times. I wonder how often to run it. Its about 170sqft room.

What made you pick 5x6? Just asking because I did a 5 x 6.5’ room because the containers I planned around fit good. If I could redo it, I would pick a different size. What are you going to light that footprint with?

It's the space under the steps in the basement (it's 5x8 don't know why I put 6) framed up and sheeted made into a storage room and I just retro fitted it to suit needs. I try to just light about 4x4- 5x5 of it. I only do one plant with at least 3.5 canopy.

Should work out good.

Remember when doing closed ventilation to account for co2. If you are using an AC infinity to ventilate only sometimes, you may be lacking the co2 your plants need
