I am growing in an attic, and there are many light fixtures I have access to.

Is it possible for me to change these over to normal wall outlets? I am not even sure what the DIY process would be called. ANy help would be great!

Problem: If this light fixture is controlled downstairs, you will need that switch to be on for power to flow to your grow room. You are better off running new wire up to the attic.

Attics themselves present a lot of problems for growing - I have a beautiful, out of the way attic, but I dont have the time or energy to insulate it properly and it gets hotter than a mother in the summertime. See Bryant's thread here for an example of how to properly set up an attic grow room.

You can buy a light socket that has regular two or three prong sockets on it for you to plug in anything at any hardware store or even walmart.

Here's a pic of one that I found although they have way better ones than that but you get the idea or you could just wire it up for a outlet plug.

Yea man, I ran into some problems and the attic is the only place I can finish now. It is an unfinished attic, and we live in Texas, so even working in it yesterday sucked.

I am building a room within the attic and insulating it very well. I already have a 10000 BTU A/C unit, and could design the room for a window unit.

if their is a switch down stairs the tun on and off a light or power outlet, you will still have constent power up in that box even if the swith is in the on or off possion. easy to do. good luck
