Electrical help.

well, i wanna build a pc grow box, but because i dont wanna make it seem suspicous i was thinking about just using an extra HD wire for power, good, bad?

Uhm, well if you look in a pc, the power wires to the hd, there are four colors, and the end looks square, I was gonna get the opposite, and wire up the lights and stuff with that, so the pc is un changed but the plug in runs the lights, you know?
Here's a schematic:
(Lights Fan, etc)===================[Plug]-connection-{In PC}==============Power Supply in PC

dude the power plug to your cpu, which actually powers the power supply, and the power connectors inside the box are different. you get 110vac from your wall outlet, it feeds your power supply, and your power supply converts the 110vac to 12vdc, which then feeds your HD. just cut the end of the power plug off that plugs into the cpu and use that for your power source. you could even wire a new plug end into it so that you can plug everything in inside your pc tower.

i think in order to power your lights you need ac power and not dc power. the fans however do run off of dc power, so if you want to run them off of ac power ( household plug ) you need to get a 12v dc adapter.

Yea you cant do that to your CPU power supply.

u can use the psu 12 v for computer fans but then have to install a 110 v by pass if u want to run light all off a cpu it can be done if u think outside box like u lol hit me tomm if u need me to walk u through it
