Electric consuption in the uk, would it look dodgy..?

...to double my bill..? i live in a 2 bed flat and our bill (paid by pre pay key) is about £20 a week , using are store room (40square ft) with 2 600w HPS + fans ect will double this.....
we dont have gas here so im thinking with winter comming the increase might just look like all the heaters are on...

It's usually no problem unless it's an extreme spike. There's millions of reasons someone's power usage could go up other than cannabis growing.

the most important thing is to (pre)pay your bill.

***However*** what will you do when the meter man comes to read the meter - will he see/smell your grow?

Also with prepay meters the company is allowed 6 months not to update your meter which means you may have up to 6 months of extra charges to pay when they update your meter and ask for the balance. Can you afford the extra leccy money when that demand comes in?

I have personal experience of the leccy compnay not updating the meter for two years and demanding the diff...and they can do it.

The electric meter is in the grow room....! My gf who has lived in the flat for 3 years says they come every now and then but she never lets them in anyway,they leave a card and she fills that out and puts it by the door for them to collect. I will have the lights on during the night as power is cheaper, just want to cover any possible weakness in stealth,

if you live in the uk after a few visits they will eventually send you an appointed time/date that they will visit when someone is in.you cant avoid this beleive me i live in the uk and had a flat where i never answered the door when i was not at work.and i got my letter but i had nothing to hide so it was no big beef.

I believe they do have the right to come in and inspect their property (the meter) from time to time.

I'd do a grow or two then move it somewhere else, maybe partition a 8'x4' area off and make it look like another room.

yes they can definately issue an entry warrant to inspect the meter witch belongs to them.

I know for a fact cos it's happening to me right now - the leccy co must take 1 reading by their meter reader at least once per year by law and for pre-payment meters they must replace them no less than once per two years and no later than once per three years.

if you use this site and calculator you will see a 400watt lamp only costs 6p per 24hrs of running so i woulden't worry.i was also concerned about this untill i found this site.

thats cheap.so you can see it's not going to bust your bill through the roof or cause suspicion.so all you need to do is move your gear which is a cunt but so is my electric company it seems they come to the door every fucking 2 months.
