Dude aquariums are expensive to run!! Thats at least $20-30 a month.

If its an older house I would suggest replacing the wiring and panel at some point. It will be a lot cheaper to just replace everything rather then trying to splice into old wiring. It will be a lot safer, all your power usage will be way more efficient, and you will have way less risk of fires.

:peace:
all wires and breakers brand new. I went thru everything

only thing not brand new in the whole place is the furnace. I sunk 50k into this place the first month i lived here.
Did you call the power company to get the past years averge yearly cost for the new house before ya bought it? If not you can try that now. It might just be the difference in size of houses or appliances using more electric.

well listen to this when i changed my water heater there was a wire that went

from my box to the water heater then it fed back out of the heater and back

through my box and outside to the meter. My electrician said that back in the

day all houses were that way cause after 11pm the meter would give that

circuit power at a cheaper rate. Specifically for water heaters. But he said

that dont work that way anymore and since we arent supposed to go into

the meter i just had him cut those wires and cap em off inside my box. Im

having the electric co out to take a peek inside it and or look into replacing

it since its obviously old. Do you think im drawing to much attention by

doing so? keep in mind i only have a small 2x3 closet so they can come in

and walk thru every room if they wanted and wouldnt see anything
just putting this on this page

My guess is that your box is not balanced for power. When this happens your meter will spin faster since you are getting a higher load rating on one leg of your power supply. Basically if you balanced your draw to as close as equal as you can that should slow down the spin of the meter clock. I'm just gonna venture a guess that most of your power draw is coming off the same leg. A house that is 50+ years old usually has a majority of lets say the homes lights on one circuit along with most outlets. you can check this using a volt ohm meter and going through your electrical box to see what your draw is on each circuit. Go one by one turning each circuit breaker off and turn only one on. Check the amount of amps drawn, and go through the house to see what is connected to that circuit, Write this info down. Once you do this for all your circuits you take all the circuits from the left and then right side of the breaker box and add them up. If one side is much greater then the other in the amount of amps drawn this is a big problem as this is what will cause the meter to spin faster. you can rearrange you circuit breakers from the left to the right to balance out the draw as much as possible. Also you want to make sure that you kind of balance the box the way you actually use the electricity, for instance if you have 2 1000w lights it would be better to have one on each side of the breaker box. Stove on one side and Dryer on the other, you have 2 breakers for your furnace and ac one on right one on left etc... hope this helps . Also this holds true for either a breaker box or fuses however rearranging a fuse box is a big mess where as doing a breaker box is as easy as pulling a breaker and swapping it to the other side of the box.

They might still be able to give ya the average of when it was lived in. Also do you know the sq/ft differences of the 2 houses it could bethe cause if its dramatic.
electric here went up 20% this year. and ya there is a big diff in space 500sq to 1200sq.

But im using the same shit ya know? My friends house is the same size and he's got 3 kids turning shit on all over and his bill never goes over 175.

ya he dont grow but still. I did the math and at my rates my closet uses $41 a month. so thats saying my legit bill would be 200. for 2 people?!?
