Don't you consider your Green vote wasted?
If your riding was a tight race, every vote might make a difference.
I would like to vote Libertarian, but it's kinda just a protest vote in reality.

I like your political agendas, with the exception of stopping seal slaughter.
I am deeply concerned with the plight of our aboriginal citizens.
I dont think its wasted because if you truly believe in something you should fight and let you voice be herd, even if you do loose, you can go to bed sleeping at night knowing one day your "wasted" vote may make a difference.
I truly believe in their political statements and I have always been taught to go with what I feel is right, my vote may seem wasted to others, but to me its fighting for what I believe in so its not wasted in my eyes.

Curious as why you dont care about the seal slaughter though.

I fully understand what you are saying.
I struggle with voting with my heart versus voting with impact. It's a challenge for myself.
I was just interested in your opinion. Wasted vote really isn't the correct term.
No offense meant.

I view it as a controlled seal hunt that is highly regulated, 98% humane, benefits many Newfoundlanders and First Nation people. I do not view it as a slaughter.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on the slaughter thing,
for it it is a slaughter, its shameful, and neanderthal and not even 0.01% humane.

You did not offend me by asking if i felt my vote was a waste though

I obviously did offend you on my opinion of the annual regulated seal hunt.

I also support regulated hunting, and culling of certain species when required. Over populated deer in certain regions come to mind. I believe keeping the species at the correct population levels is the most humane approach, versus starvation and disease.
Hunting is a way of life for many Canadians, especially for First Nations.

It's nice to be able to have a conversation with differing views without the need of name calling though

First off i never once called you a name, you misread i said slaughtering seals is Neanderthal , i never said you were.
There is nothing regulated about this slaughter of animals,
With the current rate of global warming and our environmental issues if we keep at the rate we are going seals are not going to be around much longer we are literally causing an extinction of a species

also the study you're referring too about the 98% humane
That study was funded by the CVMA, and the DFO was sighted as saying its 98% humane, and the CVMA came back and said basically
"stop misrepresenting the study"
40% of the seals slaughtered are alive when skinned
The Canadian seal slaughter is the largest mass marine animal slaughter in the world rally up to 356,000 seals and growing each year
Seal meat is considered UNFIT for human consumption with only a small small tiny portion of newfoundland buying it , the rest is imported to Asian countries for dog food.
35 countries as of 2013 have banned our seal products and other seafood imports to their countries which isnt helping our country any.

furthermore many places are no longer accepting canadias seal trading as its being banned by many countries and fast.
Theres no need to slaughter innocent animals.
Many first nations people do not even do this act, its white fisherman nothing native about it anymore.

No you didn't call me any names. Let's call it a subtle insinuation.

To say that there is nothing regulated with the seal hunt is way off base.
I'm sure you are very familiar with quotas being adjusted on an annual basis.
There is no threat of extinction.
I cringe when I hear these biased opinions.
Seals are a critical portion of the Inuit diet.

I did not intend to pick a fight. I am just as passionate on my viewpoint as you are.
You said it best, we can agree to disagree.

I have worked with hundreds of first-nations individuals over the last decade, many of them children. And the stories of their lives haunt me. I had no idea when I was younger that there was any issue with the First Nations communitites. I probably didn't even know that reserves existed, except on television.
The way they are forgotten in Canada, is a travesty.

In Thunder Bay a native friend of mine ran for MPP for the Green Party. He was the first person I ever voted for in my life.

I knew he wouldn't win. But I REALLY wanted him to!

It's unlikely this will be the sole election issue. But I guess we all have a vested interest in this particular topic MMJ So it's also our responsibility to try an keep it in the forefront as an election issue .... Talk to your friends, talk to acquaintances ,or anyone who will listen. neighbours ,family let them know the details on a grass roots level

Yes, it's not going to be the only platform. I guess the usual ones will be there. Education, health care, fiscal responsibility bla bla bla, but if they throw MMJ into the mix, I got my soap box ready.
