El monstre!!

Welcome to my first RIU grow show:hug:

I've done several grows over at opengrow.com, but I thought it was time I did one here. I'm far too lazy to maintain more than one journal at a time...

Basics-I'm a very small scale grower, strictly for stash+my sis, who has MS. I use a one square meter tent, 400w HPS or CMH, big vortex fan pulling through the filter, hood, and venting to the crawlspace under the house. I use a 10 square foot closet with a 6 tube 4 foot T5 light for vegging, clones, etc.

I'm using Roots Organic soil in 5 gallon buckets, with a couple of inches of perlite at the bottom. I go the bird-bat-worm poop+kelp tea route, seems to work well, kinda...redolent of the farm....though.

The beans are a freebie from an order with Sanniesshop.com . As I understand it, the genetics are Sannies Jack x Blueberry /Blue Kronic. I got 5 beans, all popped and survived. I vegged them for 5 weeks, and they all presexed before flipping, 3 girls/2 boys. They've grown well, though they do seem to be susceptible to mold/PM. I use an OMRI listed spray to keep the infestation down. They already have a stout stench when brushed against...

So now we pick it up 4 days into flowering for the girls, the boys have been topped and will stay in veg for a couple more weeks, I want to do a little pollen chucking:hump:

The tall plant is an experiment in growing 12/12 from seed, the strain is an accidental cross between PeakseedsBC Northernberry (NL5 x Blueberry) x Motarebels Star Kush F2 (pre98 Bubba Kush x Sensi Star). The SK threw a couple of hermies under stress, having been supercropped extensively to prevent it from poking a hole in my ceiling. Naturally, I didn't catch them in time. It's about 10 weeks in now, very low odor so far, not much in the way of trichs either. Got a ways to go yet...

Feel free to drop in with advice, criticism, questions, or whatever. I'm pretty easy to get along with :peace:

From what I've seen, it will yield quite well. If you go to the forums at Sannies site, there are some really good pictures in a thread in the Sannies Corner forum.

Those pictures made up my mind to run these next. When you see them, you'll know why...

Well, lets see what can happen in 8 days

As you can see from the pics, they've kinda exploded, in a really nice way...tent might be kinda crowded at finish. That's a 16 oz. beer pong cup in the second shot, for scale.

Very easy to grow so far, just water it and spray for powdery mildew once in a while. I have to say, growing organic in big buckets is really easy, for us lazy types...

The no-name cross has started to show some red pistils, so the end is in sight. Got a slight increase in odor, mostly kush but with a hint of blueberry, kinda nice really.

I was going to take a few top down shots, but naturally, the camera battery puked. More later.

this is a very cool thread, and one i will be watching closely.. i also recieved the el montre freebies from my order of heri from sannies.. i didn't know much info on them either, and was glad to have run across your thread here.. i've already found out more info in the two minutes it took for me to read this thread than i had in the two weeks since i have had these beans.. thank you for the 411..
the cross sounds pretty sick, and i am excited to get these going to.. i even got seven of these freebies, i was super excited.. it allowed me to give two of them to a friend for those much needed karma points, lol..
i will be checking in from time to time to check out your progress.. good luck with your grow..

Finally found a few minutes to spare from the holiday madness...

Thanks for the kind words all:peace:

Starting to see two distinct phenos here. Plants 1 and 2 appear to be the same pheno, same height, same odor. Plant 3 is taller, with a much stronger odor.

Going to pick a male and start flowering on it this weekend, I definitely want some beans. Be a shame to lose this strain.

Happy Holidays:joint:

lol, nice grow. weird to get stuck at a place with no riu, or a time at least. Like at a relatives house and no riu all night. hehe. Anyway, my el monstre is freaking a monster all right. She is a week or two since sprouted from a rapid rooter and into 4 inch rockwool. She went in to a tray at 800 ppm or so with her other big sisters herijauna and purplewreck and she is loving it! No burn just awesome growth under a 600 mh and no damage from that either. I am using the gh nute calcualtor for veg and the lucas formula for flower. I am using the mild veg aggressuve awesome for those of you who use the gh and their programmable nute calculator. I say lucas for flower cuz gh worried me with the N amount but that was autoflower. Got some learning to do still with this system but El Monstre loves it. As a medical grower I want max yeild for my trees and Sannie says it has over 20 percent thc to boot! Merry christmas all. GL.

Whew! Survived Xmas once again, with only minor injuries...

These things are growing into monsters, especially #3. I've a feeling it could fill the tent all by itself. Plants 1 and 2 are slowing down vertical growth, but 3 is still stretching. The male has been flipped, should start flowering quickly now.

The accidental cross is showing a lot of milky trichomes now, along with the decorative cat hair...should be ready in about 2 weeks.

Next update after the New Year...

Congrats. I surivived too lol, and when I got back here my frickin el monstre was twice as big and is catching up from being two weeks behind to herijauan and purplewreck! This plant is amazing and seriously I was watching this movie and the dude was a "lovable vancouver slacker" lol, but his buddy was a comercial mj grower with a mil business as power cover and he was groing "the monster" under 1000 watt super sun sokaer umbrellas. Funny as hell, "the monster" in four pound bundles for 10k. Lol. Funny as movie I wish I could rmemeber the name. I will try and post some pics in a thread soon. I am lazy when it comes to diggin out my camera shit. GL.

So, a few days further in...these things are taking over!

I may end up in just keeping plant #3, she seems to be the pheno I'm looking for, and she wants some room to spread out. The other 2 plants...I hate to do it, but they might get the chop. I have also gotten 2 clones from #3 rooted and growing, will select one for a mother. The male is popping balls all over, going to trim him down some.

Pics-#1 Jungle shot. #2 plant #3 in all her glory, that's a 40 inch square tent and she wants all of it. #3 Top shot of the keeper. #4 Ballz!

cool. Have you rubbed the leaves yet? I have, lol, the smell alone of my one el monstre is making me frickiny proud. She is like a fruity bubble gum, and something else I cant place, I had it the other day. I just rubbed her leaf, and I got the bubblegum, with almost a berry smell and somthing like herijaunas scent! It will dry and cure like that too. I grew a roadrunner that was like that and the buds were like fruit. I prey she is a girl. I am about three weeks in rockwool ebb and flow. Under a big MH. Lol. they got some stretch in flower it looks like. Mine is about six inchs. Bushy as fuck. Trust me the el monstre is a monster, she is as big at week two as heri and pw at week three. The Heri is awesome. Sannies shipping is hilariously scary but his plants rock! Lol.

TT-Only plant #3 is getting that fruity funk so far, pants 1 and 2 have barely any odor at all, even when disturbed. I selected the male with the strong odor too, so let's hope they produce some serious stank:bigjoint:
Sannies shipping...ya know, it looks kinda odd, but I've made 4-5 orders so far, and every one has gotten through. Hard to argue with success.

Dr. G, thanks for stopping by.

Five days later...man these boards move fast:o

Well, I decide to cut one of the non-EM phenos, I needed the space. I also pruned both the remaining plants. Gave them a shot of Indonesian bat crap, worm castings, and kelp tea, about time to give them a boost...

When you look at the pics, you'll see the difference in phenos. The EM pheno has a more open structure, gets taller with fan leaves that have very long stems, and has a cherry candy odor. The non-EM pheno has lost all odor, I can't smell it at all, even when rubbed. If anything, it smells like my lawn. Got a nice greasy feel to the resin, though. I'll go ahead and grow it out, just to make sure I'm not missing anything. I flipped on Dec. 5, but a few days later I had a power outage when I was away from home, enough to reset the timer and I didn't catch it for a few days, they had about 3 straight days of light, set them back a bit, coming along nicely now...The male is about ready to pop, another day or so and I'll cut him and hang him upside down in a paper bag to dry.

Oh boy, been slacking:dunce:

Not much to say, these girls just keep getting fatter and smellier, kinda like...um, maybe we ought not to go there.

Ahem. Anyway, I must say growing in big buckets of organic soil is the way to go. Water once a week, nutes every third week=more sitting-on-my-ass-getting-wasted time for me :bigjoint:

Going to switch to the CMH light this weekend and finish out the grow on it, and then we'll get some decent pics. For now, these will have to do.

So I slacked on installing the CMH, shoot me:sleep:

Some pollen has been chucked, little bitty seeds are starting to form. I'm thinking she will want to go another 4 weeks or so. Main fan leaves are starting to yellow out, right on schedule.

Looking good for the home stretch...:bigjoint:
