ebb & flow buckets vs. large tub DWC - growing trees

Trying to decide what system I want to use. I will have 2 1000 hps lights, each light over a 4x4 table. Each table will have 2 plants, harvesting each table 4-5 weeks apart. I will have 2 plants in veg (4-5 weeks) at all times.

Either way I go, i am plan on building my reservoirs from 2x material, plywood, insulation, and pond liner. The res will be 25-50 gallons. Drop in some airstones, a heater, and a small water pump (maxi-jet). Cooling, when necassary, will be evaporative cooling using axial fans. When and if I switch to a sealed room, I will get chillers.

I can easily do DWC by fabbing a lid and using 10" net pots. Not much more required.

Ebb flow buckets would be simple also. Buckets would most likely be 5 gallons, but I am looking into bigger buckets. I would place the buckets above the reservoir to simplify plumbing and my space requirements.

DWC seems easiest but others say ebb flow is way less work. I hear ebb flow can handle warm nute temps much better. It also sufffers less PH drift????

So I am new here and setting up a grow for the first time in 7 years. What say you? DWC or Ebb and Flow Buckets?

I love deep water! there is only one thing that can go wrong and that is no air in the bucket will drown you root killing the plant. but to me using deep water let's the plant use all the nutes it needs when ever it needs them vs. flooding the tray and only allowing nutes that are left after the flood! my plants when in full bloom can suck as much as a gallon of water a day. so I know they need alot and keeping the buckets full is easy as pie

right on.. grow them horizontal... so you want BUSHES!

i'd go with a TUB DWC then just because you won't be refilling the 5gal bucket daily then.

You plan to get 120-144 pounds of ganja a year off of 4 or 5 plants? :wall:

Not even close to feasible, take a closer look at the other peoples yields who grow trees...
A friend who grows who is getting me into growing told me instead of the 60 day harvest and get 3 oz a plant he would harvest on day 75 around 1.5 -2 pounds a plant so its possible

I might try a 55gallon drum Ebb & Flow with a 30gallon resevoir. Have a timer to feed my plant 3 times a day. For under $500 you can do this and it would proboly harvest a monster.
I would LST the whoe barrel and then continue to do it up to flower, Get over 6 feet of curled stem. lol i just might try it.
2x 600 watts on the one plant during flower.

Has anyone tryed a 55gallon drum before?

Your cannabis tells you when it's ready, if you pay attention to her.

I have never tryed waiting longer, but your friend is full of shit. No offence.

I agree. The plants tell you when they are done and ready. And as for the guys friend he is full of MAJOR BS. There is no plant that will jump from 3oz yield to 1.5 to 2lb yeild simply for waiting an extra 14 days ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE. :bigjoint:

Actually the insane desire of 10 pounds every month and a half is actually easily possible now given 4 trees vertical and 9kw open bulbs with g13 in a high air and water flow rdwc bins of around 18-25 gallons of root space.

Cut the 55 gallon drums in half and get busy. Original g13 from the 80's not some new twist.

Very few strains are known to even grow this big indoors yet, but that will do it. You have to have around 300gpm water flow including waterfalls and 10lpm air per bin and chillers because each bin would need 4kw vert around it but only 9kw total.

There is no need to use more than a 5 gallon bucket though if you can only throw 2kw total. Then you can only yield 2k worth of bud anway and will never need the extra root space. With only 2k ebb and flow might make sense, but not if you are going for what I mention above only rdwc will do it.
