Hey guys ok first off my grow space is a 600mm x 600mm x 1500mm secret jardin dr60, i am using an organic soil mixed with (and dont laugh at me but perlite wasnt available) cat litter aka zeolite, and a few hand fulls of crushed lime stone.


Ok so the idea is that at the moment this tent has plus minus 300-350 true cfl watts in it, as you guys already know long veg periods in small spaces under cfl arent really the best idea, so ive thought of getting 2 x 150 watt ebay led ufo (or similar) led ballasts, now i know alot of people hate these lights as they're cheap and "crappy" setups but im wondering if itll be worth it the get 2 of these and since cash flow is pritty low at the moment getting a top of the range light light a cob or what not this is the best idea i can find and i dont want hid just yet. So i supose what im asking is would it be better to remove the cfl ballast i made and put in 2 150 watt ebay ufo lights or should i just keep the cfls. Its one or the other in this situation. The main point is to get a much longger veg time

I have a DR60 for Clones and a few moms.
ANyways, EBay LEDS are garbage.
I would suggest buying a COB LED light or DIY one yourself for cheaper.
You will only need 200w for flower and 100w for Veg in that tent if running COBS.
If you want some help PM, also lots of resources here in the LED section.

Whats your budget?
Also please dont use cat litter, thats just wrong and not organic at all.
There are some fucked up things in cat litter.

Anyways if going organic try Fox Farms line of soils.

If your budget is low Citi CLU48 1212 COBS are your best option :)

Please dont use that garbage ufos from ebay.
Im aware your new, but trust me they are not great.

If your on a budget to get ebay LED get a well known one or get more info here on site, few people here use them and have good success......i cant say ebay is junk because i order lots of things there but sometime you do get what u pay for....if its your first grow and want the experience why not its cheap and it does work, if it didn't then few people here wouldn't be using them or talk about them.....GOOD LUCK

No, please dont do that.
They are all using shit Episar diodes, so again no dont buy them.

Its well known on this forum that 99% of growlights use the same shit diodes.
You want COBS ir atleast Cree XML or XPG in a white CCT such as 3000, 3500,4000k.
Please dont give him advice on LED if your not aware of the current market.

Why put people down on buying cheap stuff.....maybe there not rich....instead we should be in couraging them to do what it needed to just grow a few plants instead of telling them to buy $500 lights

those 150 watt UFO only draw about 40 watts and are less effiecient than 23 watt CFLs.your better of sticking with your CFLs and saving your money until you can afford a good grow light

nothing wrong with buying cheap stuff. it's just that some cheap lights are better than others. for the price of those cheap LEDs he could get a 150 watt HPS grow light that will blow those cheap lights out of the water. I vegg in a 2ft * 2ft closet with 55 watt 2G11 CFLs and flower in a 2ft*4ft closet under T5s. I have tried cheap leds so I speak from experience.the experience growers here are giving advice to help him successfully complete his first grow.we are not putting him down. we were all "newbies" at one point

Thanx for the help i gotta dosagree on the cat litter tho ive been using it for ages now with no problems at all. I dont know what cat litter your thinking of but mine is all natural from the ground. As mentioned though i wont be getting cobs so its either the cfls or ebay led

Its actualy my 4th grow but learning everytime. But in saying that would you say a 150 watt hps feom ebay would be better. I only have 120cfm extraction fan so it might not be enough. Also my budget for those wondering is about the same as an ebay led

I am saying what I will say again YOU CAN BUILD A DIY LIGHT FOR CHEAP!!!
Under 500 for sure.
50w a sq/f of LED or less if you want does not cost much using Citi CLU

or he could build a killer COB with Citi CLU...

The Chinese Burple LEDs are okay for veg especially when you mix a T8/T5 with them. They seem to suck for flower.
