Yeah my pitbull would turn it into a chew toy lol
Now there's the thing ... every time my ex got a new mutt, a chicken died. Each dog had a one-bird learning curve. i hated that. It depends on how your pit views a chicken ... to most dogs, it's a self-propelled chew toy ... cn

In my area earwig's are the bane of many local growers existence. But it is a love hate relationship, sadly they can also be useful little bugger's but there are unstable and eat whatever the see first be it mite or foliage or moistened root mass. Which brings up another question, how is your drainage? When I overwater my patches especially in ground with a high clay content I end up attracting pill bug's, slugs and earwig's. Also the only times I have ever had them prefer to go for my root mass rather than my lower shaded foliage was when a plant had a suffering root system, from one reason or another.

First figure out WHY they have set up a condominium under your plant to keep the problem from returning, a mistake I make still to this day. Band-aiding a issue without fixing the source... Second DE won't wipe em in a flash out like slug's but good ol Diatomecous (sp?) Earth will finish em off just takes a few days.

Don't forget the dust mask when working with DE or Perlite or anything else that can make sharp dust, very bad for the ol' lung's. And good luck with your patch!

Oh and a earwig trap is easy to make, they are various ones using hoses (like the video I noticed was posted while I wrote the original draft of this post.) or by stuffing a few most paper towels into a milk carton wrapped with a dark plastic bag to help prevent let and make the bugger's think they are underground. DE & Traps in combination should clear the plot out pretty quick of the little buggers.
There is a 8 inch thick, 100 foot long leaf stack behind the fence where this garden is. That is what I am guessing is causing this earwig problem. I am "making" beer traps as we speak lol. And yeah the earwigs got rid of my caterpillar problem.....so I guess they did serve a good purpose for a bit lol.....Fuck them now though ha

Thanks for the advice

I would die if I saw my pitty pulling apart a chicken the way he eats through the entire Kong line. Must be pretty bloody....do they actually eat them or just rip em up?

Cut a beer can so you get the bottom.part . Bury so the top is flush with your soil, put some beer in it.

They like whatever brand you like ;)

They'll crawl in, get wasted, and forget how to get out haha

If you have a earwig army maybe put two cans for each plant ...

Soda cans will work to just put beer in it

They just toss them in the air and throw them around......and then mine tries to bury them.......I have seen her do it to birds.....and kittens :(

Yep I'd bet my last half gram on that horse, I remember when I had my composter just a little to close to my patch and then one night a whole train load of slugs went trailing through my garden in the general direction of the wonderful aroma of compost... mmmm-mmm good. No joke it was like the F'in pied piper had summoned them up. Now I am a bit more careful about my compost and landscape waste dumping area's. Good luck hope the beer trap's work out well.

Of course glad to help, and keep us updated we're all curious now. :P

Maybe I'll take him sometimes, so he can have some fun too. What will the other hunters think seeing me get a pheasant, then sending my dog in to have his way with it?...lol!

He listens, but when he has something and I tell him to come...he automatically drops what he's got. You should see us playing fetch....when I say "us" I really mean me running back and forth just throwing the ball and him gettng it and dropping it....lol

My female dog is a bully she will never let me play fetch with my other boy dog. When ever he's bringing me back the ball she will run over and snatch it out his mouth and bring it to me herself lol.

Then my boy will just walk off like "fuck it i didn't wanna play fetch anyway" its hilarious ill get it on video one day
