Hi all,
I'm a new marijuana grower and I have 6 Endless Sky sprouts growing in a wardrobe.I planted 2 of em a day earlier than the rest and that was 4 days ago.Well the first two serated leaves on one of the first two seedlings has since developed discolouration on the tips.I haven't watered it since i planted it and the soil is still moist. They are all under 6 26w cfl's @1700 lumens apiece. The soil is a mix of 4parts potting soil, 1 part vermiculite, 1part perlite.I haven't liked the soil since i got it because it seems too compact but I read it wasn't that crucial so i went with it.Could the soil be the cause? Also when I was taking the pics of the sprout in question, I noticed something else growing in the same cup.Don't know what that could be but it's probably a bi product of the cheap soil?Should I attempt to transplant them into some different soil?I tested the ph yesterday and it seems weak at about 5.8 or 6.I water with distilled water.Should i add some fert?Am i panicking ? yes lol, please help, and thanks!

I think ur panicking. Second set of leaves are coming through and they look fine. you seem to have all other grow aspects well under control. PH, CFL, Soil mix. If soil is still moist it dont need watered. Dont feed either, abit early for it. I think ur fine. If im wrong ill eat my hat lol I wouldve not put same ratio of perlite as vermiculite, 2perlite to 1 verm, but thats just me. Vermicultie breaks down easyliy and compacts. but is good for water/nutrient retention.

PS what is the room temp?

didntnotice that u had other things growing in the pot lol cover the soil with silver foil, 1 to stop light getting to the soil: 2 and to reflect the light.

ahhh...That's good. I can just stop panicking, but when this shit happens when everything else seems to be going fine it's a bit of a jolt lol.I'll remeber your suggestion about using 2 parts perl when i get my next pots ready.TY!
Oh, and the temp ranges from 25c to 29c., depending on when the exhaust is running i guess.Humidity ranges from 40-55%.Thanks for lookin it over, man.

Hey jaymes, I think we may be in the same shoes right now. I also have some endless sky started in a cabinet. By the looks of it were about 1-2 weeks ahead of you. We started with a cheap pro mix soil, with a per/ver mix similar to yours, but with a larger per to ver ratio as per someone replied. we have 4/27 watt energy saver (cfls?) I believe.

Same prob here! We have had successful growing in the last year doing a few different strains in a small 2.5x2.5ft closet. So wheres the prob? The pro mix we started these with is one variable We changed. We had success with Shultz mix with a slow release fert, failed to notice the cheap pro-mix had none! The other variable and what I believe to be the problem was the soil also seemed more heavy or waterlogged. over watered? causing root probs?
The leaves on our plants did the same as yours starting on the first set at the tip continuing throughout the leaf and on to the next. we removed the first couple sets of leaves, in the pics you can see there is still some there.

What we did! risked an early transplant into our tried soil mix and started a very little(pinch per 7-9 litres).

I can't say for sure what the prob is, because we are still noobs but the new growth seems to be alright. maybe the slow release with the 20-20-20 is causing the light coloured tips? have had that before and doesn't look serious so I will lay off the added ferts now. 3 of the pic are endless sky the short one is one of the indoor mix (it came out with one leaf after the sprout but has become regular growth pattern)
One of the endless sky had fused leaves on the second set.

Another of the endless sky, as seen in pic has a small leaf where should be the biggest. ? weird?

ne way hopefully we will be able to help each other out thru this, maybe one o the pros will catch interest and give us some guidance.

Im not an experienced weed grower, still have to do my first grow :) But i did work at gardening Center for a number of years (did this so i could learn growing weed ;)).
I was in charge of the greenhouse and the plants in it. I have to say that most plants shed there first 2 set of leaves after afew weeks, especially when new leaves were growing well. The bottom ones always went off color then would die off, at this stage id take the bottom ones off, incase fungis infections set in.

Both sets of plants are looking good, wouldnt worry about the first set of leaves...

Thanks for the info. I wasn't really gettin too concerened over this as most of my othes plants in the past have had the first set or maybe 2 kinda yellow and fall off. thse just had ore of a browning discolor than yellowing, the ones in the pic have been removed as well, just left em for you guys to see. I feel they will be alright as well, just something new to keep an eye on. Always learning!

Hey, Mexiblunt, sorry to not get back to you sooner but i was away for a few days.Anyhow, the plants you have pictured look more robust than mine.how old were they when you took the pic? I think you said you were 1 or 2 weeks ahead of my grow.Anyway, I hope mine look like that soon. But It's only been a week and they have grown, the leaves have gotten bigger and wider but the stems are still thin so iv'e had to support them with tooth picks lol.So you have made a transplant into better soil?I was thinking of doing that same thing.None of my other seedlings are showing any signs of stress though, so I'll put it off for now.The one that i i was worried about has grown bigger too so i dont think the discoloured tips are anything for me to be worried about anymore.BTW, let me know when you start your journal.I would like to check it out as we both grow the same strain. After paying so much for my beans, i'd like to see some kind of a harvest! Here's hoping we both do!

Hey james! Glad you still around... lol Those pic I posted would be about 3-3.5 weeks from germination. we didn't have a support problem with ours but have had that in the past, I usually just leave them when they fall over and they left themselves over a day er 2. should be no prob. yeah we transplanted cause the leaves curled down like an overwatering prob in the beggining.

As for the journal... took a bunch of pics today and gathered some old ones, but I am not to quick at these forum thingys so as I learn to grow I will also learn to post..lol started but had troubles with attachments etc.

ohhh yeah also just topped our endless sky and mix today because we want to take and label clones so we can put these into 12/12 to sex. Once they grow out will will pick our best plant and the corrosponding clone will become our mother. talk to ya later.
