early sampling - stress? shock?

hey,

i've come to understand that early sampling is actually recommended, even as early as i am (5th week of flowering). I understood that if you cut a little bud from the bottom most, you can get away with it, but no one's talking about stress for the plants, from having to regrow stuff instead of what was taken, or i don't know what.

any thoughts/ knowledge / experience, before i apply the trial and error method? :))

I would never sample from a 5-6 week bud. But at 6-7 weeks I roll a joint and run it across the bud for a wonderful taste. Oh also I pick a small branch the day I flush (9 days before harvest).

I think sampling is stupid. Regardless of when you cut a sample (6 weeks or 9 weeks ) it will still be a sample that won't give you any real indication of what you have unless you actually allowed it time to convert THC-A into THC. When you first chop your sample, the majorty of the THC is a non-psychoactive form called THC-A. Through slow drying, the chemical bond of the extra carbon is broken thus giving us THC. So I can't think of a good reason to take a sample of a bud in week 5. You don't want to stress your plant during flowering. You want to allow the plants auxins to send all nutrition and production to the flowers and not to trying to grow new growth..

Patience I have. Sampling is a pleasure. No one said to quick dry the sample. Beside's when I sample it tells me how much nutrients are still in the plant and also give's me a fat stone of a plant I have patiently grew over the last 4-5 months.

Attitude??? Not sure where you got that from. I didn't say I thought you guys were wrong for sampling or that I thought you were stupid. I simply said I thought it was stupid as in I don't think it is a good idea. Nothing more , nothing less.. I added the actual reason why I don't like sampling (if you are actually going to dry it for a week, great). Really I can't think of many things I care less about than what you think of my attitude... No really, I can't..

It's supposed to be collected early because the urine sample won't have any extra substances in it or extra volume. eating and drinking can cause alterations in urine volume and content which would make diagnosis of ailments much harder and inaccurate.

hey bulldog can give us some more info about the THC-A thing, cuz I really have never heard of it nor can i find it when looking up online...

i prefer to wait for the whole plant to be done. UNLESS of course it's a dire emergency to smoke. No harm in waiting, no harm in sampling. good things come out with patience ( you're plants for example) .... but imo you can tell how much nutes are still in the plant by their appearance for the most part.

hey evryone calm yourselves,
some people sample, some dont
in my opinion its not a good idea because you just end up with less buds in the final harvest
although other people may feel diffrently thats up to them
