Early Miss Auto keeps growing

I find this statement kind of interesting as I am just starting to dabble into breeding and genetics. I would question if this is more a case of bad breeding practices rather than poor genetics ? From my understanding, I think it's more likely that they used the same room to breed photo periods plants and didn't clean out all the pollen properly before they started their auto run or carried it over from another room.

In the interest of keeping this post short, I will not get into how they breed and why I question the genetic side of it.
I never said poor genetics just unstable genetics

To breed an auto from a photo you have to take aa (auto auto) and breed to pp (photo photo) this makes ap or pa and p is the dominant gene so all offspring will be photo plants. So you breed the offspring, now you will end up with 25 percent of those genetics ending showing the auto trait, then you breed two offspring that showed the auto trait and you get a semi stable strain. I feel that this is where crop king stopped. You have to back cross this to make it stable. They have not been bred down the line enough to be a stable auto genetic. The genetics that were started with were probably great but you have to finish the job before you sell auto seeds lol.
And that's why I have a hard time believing it's genetics. It just takes one more cycle to breed it with itself via colloidal silver or sts to be stable? I'm still learning but even at the first successful auto you produce, will that auto trait not be locked in 100% of the time if you "self" the plant ? Kind of like feminized seeds for example, it will always be 100% female because there is no Y chromosome to begin with, so it's impossible to transfer something that isn't there.

So unless they have stray pollen, how can they transfer the photo trait if it's not there ?
I understand that Photo x Auto = 75% Photo
but shouldn't a Auto pollinated by itself or "selfed" for lack of a better word = a exact same copy ?

Sorry for the thread hi jack :P

If the plant were to be pollinated by a photo then 100% of the offspring are photo plants. The fact that the OP and myself have had mostly auto plants from the seed base says that they were not pollinated by a photo plant. Just not bred to be stable yet. It takes year(s) to make a new auto strain stable. Crap king just didn't take the time. And just because a plant is not showing a certain trait or gene does NOT mean it's not there. It's just recessive at the moment. Where did you read that photo x auto =75% photo? This chart helps explain. Where a is auto and A is photo.first-three-generation-autoflower-punnett-table.png

ZOGS....power bill. AH.....I don't know how they bill power in CA, but here in the middle of the U.S. They base it on how much and how fast you draw power and peak power demand times. I didn't use my central a/c like I normally would have and I had a window unit in my bedroom. #1 didn't want a HEWG bill and #2 I've heard that's how the 'THEYS' find out what you're doing. But I got to thinking about it and when I weld the same thing happens. I haven't welded anything for almost a year.....back pain, but I'm getting better.

I use the basement as well, which here, stays relatively the same temp all year.

Newbieauto the only thing I know about genetics is what I learned in school about peas and the wrinkled peas. I'll have to do some research into that. But, I've read in other threads where people don't like CropKing.

I chose autos because they were 'supposedly' the fasted from start to finish. I see using the constant light cycle from seedling to a certain point, but......the lil fookers work harder than heck, maybe later on a light cycle is best. I dunno, Will try different things during my 2nd grow.

Have a great Sunday !!!!

It was a guesstimate that I was given by other breeders. The auto gene is recessive to my understanding. I am not sure I am reading that chart correctly, but here is my stab at it and where I may be going wrong.

We start with (A) crossed with (a)
only a portion of the offspring will be (a) and be evident because they will have auto'd. ie aa and will not have the A gene.
Now if we take the ones that auto and reverse a single branch and have it pollinate itself, will that plants seedlings not be an exact genetic copy of itself at this point ? As well as every other seedling we use that same pollen on going forward ?

yea I really think the light cycle comes down to personal preference. I like to get away with less power when temps permit so I cut down the hours. Good news about the early miss is even though for what ever reason a lot of them don't auto, the smoke reports have always been positive and some of the non auto's get HUGE !

I really wish I payed more attention back then as well to the peas and the wrinkled peas.

of this I am not sure. I'm sure something there would not be right otherwise that's as far as any breeder would take it. Legit auto breeders take year(s) to create new crosses and sell stable auto strains. There is a reason they dont just self pollinate the 1st auto that shows out of the bunch. Someone with much more experience than I would have to comment on that.

I agree. I've seen both sides of the coin for sure and it all makes sense. You gotta try what you try and decide what works best for you. Everyone here does things differently and 90 percent of them grow some killer buds. There is no 1 right way to grow your buds.

it wouldn't let my directly quote but here is a copy/pasteof

And this is why I was originally intrigued by your statement. I really think it's that simple and why so many new seed banks pop up. You really don't even need to add a photo to the mix , it's simple enough to just steal some ones stable auto by doing a reversal and calling it "early miss" and fk it up by not cleaning the old pollen out of your grow room. If this is correct, and I may be wrong, the only reason the legit breeders take years to release a strain is to find the best pheno's from the original (A) crossed with (a).

This is what I ordered from Crop King Seeds

1.) 1Qty x White Widow - FeminizedSeeds(5Seeds) x $60.00
2.) 1Qty x Amnesia Haze - Auto Flower Fem (5Seeds) x $60.00
3.) 1Qty x Early Miss - Auto Flowering Fem (5Seeds) x $55.00

Maybe I'll d the Amnesia Haze next.

I dunno about the White Widow.....I dunno how tall it gets, or if I should even worry about that.

See the tent I have set-up now is 2x4x6. The tent I haven't set up yet is 4x4x6.5 I've got all the fans carbon filters etc. But I'm going to change the carbon filters to where the filter and fan are on the outside and most def put the electrical supply outside......

I think I'll try the scrog method (dunno how high above plants to make that yet).

I'll grow whichever autoflower in the 2x4 and do the White Widow F in the 4x4.

Found this article about them.

I'm sure I'll learn a lawt more chit.....and make many more mistakes.......:lol::lol::lol:
