early harvest

i have a sweet island skunk that i've had in flower for about 6 weeks. I know this is early to be considering harvest but she survived a freeze spell of about 4 days about 2 weeks ago. even though she is still alive I believe the cold really put a hurt on her. as temps have gone up in the last two weeks i've seen minimal growth in the buds that seemed to be in warp speed in terms of growing and growing thickness. I watched the forecast and it's looking pretty brutal of at least tonight (dropping to 20 degrees outside...she's in my attic)....should i consider cropping today? I won't put a heater up there because i'm not having my house burn down and i have no other ways of warming her up. if i do crop today will it be total bunk weed and harsh? this is my first grow so i'm a newb for sure.

u should probably cut her... its not a total waste atleast u get some weed... if u let it go in the cold to long it will ruin ur bud and ull have nothing..

At 6 weeks most MJ plants have good potency, maybe not peak, but it will still fuck you up, the flavor may not be there, but it should still taste good.

IMG_5249.jpgIMG_6807.jpgi should have posted these with my first post.....one of the left is about a week ago....the one on the right is the last day of that cold blast of temps about two weeks ago.....still think i can chop? i don't want to go through another freeze....looks like i've limited myself to flowering times per year. she was such a beauty too. pretty frustrated.

bring them downstairs to heat up during lights off.
can't do that cuz i have no place to put her that's completely dark and hidden......chopped her up today....lesson learned going forward that I can't flower during the winter nor summer unless someone has good heating advice? she was doing great till she went in attic....pissed and frustrated about it....52.7grams after i trimmed it all....better than nothing i guess...hope it gets me high

52.7 wet? just dry it & cure it right & you'll get baked. you got some orange happening hair-wise, so you ain't totally screwed. damn forever-flowering sativas!
for future reference, check out some 7-8 week flowering strains, and you could've kept a heating pad under your pot or an electric blanket wrapped around it for warmth. no sketchy heaters necessary.

thanks bobby....she is stinky for sure....smells like grapefruit literally. You wouldn't worry about the electric blanket, heater, or heating pad catching fire? Have you used these before with no issues? About the flowering time I am onto that subject. I have some super lemon haze in the veg chamber about 2 weeks in. I was caught up in the name and glamour but have noticed SLH takes up to 12 weeks to flower. Ive set a new criteria beyond this and that's finding a cheaper seed that has a short flowering period. Also liking leafly dot com to read up on effects of each strain and select the ones that I like best. I F'ing love this hobby. How do I give you rep cuz I'd like to give you some?

I wouldnt worry about the oil filled radiator heaters being on for a 12 hour dark period.
Exactly what mafia said!!

I run small electric heaters ALL the time. As long as your circuit isn't overloaded and you don't have damaged cords or really long extension cords, everything should be fine!!! Seedling warming mats are another option to help keep the root mass warm. They are like heating pads for plants, designed for continous use and water resistant! Made by Hydrofarm. http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MT10006--19-1-2-Inch-Seedling/dp/B0001WV010/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295575149&sr=8-1
You might consider running an attic fan in the summer. About $80 for a fan capable of handling a 2500sq ft attic.

Good Luck!!!

In an attic a attic fan will not be enough in the summer unless the area you live in has very mild summers...Stunted growth with temps over 85f...You can grow but honestly15-20 grams a cycle just aint worth it....getting 4-6 zips dry per for personal and would like to improve to lower amount of cycles per year.

True, It won't completely fix the situation, but it will help. I was just trying to show the OP he has options rather than only trying to grow 4 months outta of the year.

I've never had any problems with heating pads or blankets. just dont let em get wet. you give rep by clicking on the "Jew star" as they put it (i thought that was pretty funny!) Glad to help! it's cold as hell in these parts right now!
