Early Flowering

I planted this plant in a pot outside then transplanted it outside as a seedling in mid April. There has been heavy rainfall and high humidity in the area for almost two months now and the plant started to flower. Will this plant reveg? Will it continue to flower and possibly reflower? Why would it flower so early if not for stress, could it be cloudy days?

i have the same thing currently happening to me. I sexed a couple plants and i put the female outside, it had hardly any flowers on it(it had like 5 or six but all the pistols were brown and shrivvled) so i figured it would veg again....

But as you can see by my pics its been about a month and they are starting to fill in, and soon fill out as well. Oh well just early bud for me.

I wasn't lucky enough to start or sex indoors with this one. It is just a bagseed so I am not very concerned, but I still want the best I can get. The plant is a runt; it is only about 14 inches tall and has a pretty thin stem and no branches. I didn't prune it at all since I don't know the lineage. I also have brown pistils on my plant.

I have a feeling this will happen to me as well ... my plants were 4 feet when i put them outside. (meant to be indoors but had to become outdoors on may 24)

Im nervous ... yet excited

More input on the causes of early flowering is appreciated

Thanx for the thread!! I know its getting tired some to the pros, this is just something I think is gonna happen this time of year on this site over and over again... And Im one of those newbies responsible for one thread.. Ive read all I can, but sometimes posting a picture is worth so much and experienced people can advise... So im glad I posted. I'd like to know how many peoples plants this year in Cali actually went back to Re- vegg... mine are still chuggin along flowering I would think at this point they dont stop?

I want to be as straightforward as I can about what I'm seeing, this year.

This is my 53rd season gardening and 27th growing our favorite herb.

I've never seen a season like this one.

My plants are six weeks behind last year.

Those that had to reveg after producing a Spring seed crop were very slow to revert.

Many, many people are reporting early flowering, all over the place. I've installed a CFL in each greenhouse to prevent such an event.

I'm replacing two Trainwrecks that have barely begun to reveg, tomorrow. I'll dig them up and reveg them under an indoor 18/6 for a month, and then flower them.

I digress.

Why are these things happening? I don't know.

How to fix it, ASAP? add a small CFL to your grow area and allow it to shine on your plants until midnight until August 1st.

I "believe" we may not be hearing about some climate change and pollution problems that may be effecting total radiation reaching the ground. We had an extremely cool Spring.

There is a huge volcano in Iceland dumping millions of tons of ash into the atmosphere.

Even the oil spill is releasing huge volumes of gas and fumes into the atmosphere. Heavy gases that lie near the ground, affecting our plants while we remain largely oblivious.

These are just guesses, but I'm 60 years old and have never seen such change, all at once.

Thoughts?

yea man im not trying to bash newbs for asking stuff(im still pretty new to growing), just trying to put that info in one place to make it easier for them to get answers. we all know that just because you start your own thread, doesnt mean you're gonna get replies.

great theories , a little more evidence for you. I sexed my plant then put her outside, she started skinny with like 6 sets of pistols, now shes fat and getting fatter with all of the flowers. she just wont reveg. But i just figured "hey early harvest." but now you got me worried that it might get worse. Like it might get to the point where you cant grow outside anymore one day..... That will be a sad day.....

Just an update, my one plant that is flowering just keeps flowering, I don't think it is going to reveg at this point. Hopefully it isn't stressed to the point where many bugs find it attractive.

son of a bitch. i never though of that, but it seems like it would make a lot of sense, veggiegardener. my plants are also flowering early, we still get 14 hours of sun. it stayed much colder down here in florida during spring too. not to mention im right by the oil spill. its hotter in New York than it is here. what is the climate doing?!
