yeah it does work against drought, strenght the stems, branches, and stalks, and pests as well but not 100% guraeete, you need to keep your plants healthier as possible it will against any dieases. if not healthy, weak plants will invite problems.

If you decide to get Pro Tekt, please add PT first before mix with base nutrients and check pH and little tweak to get your right ph level then your golden

Mix the Pro-Tect in first because it has a tendency to "crystalize"? I will find out for myself when my Dyna-Gro shipment arrives (local shop didn't have it), but just because I'm curious NOW. What is the typical pH of the nutrient solution?
Also, I haven't done my research on the Dyna-Gro Foliar spray, but I usually "brew" a compost/manure/microbe tea. Would this foliar spray be suitable to add to such teas?

I grow in the Mojave Desert. I do not air condition my house. My grow is 110 under the lights at times and I run Foliage Pro, ProTekt, Botanicare Ca/Mg with Fe. I do not run a sealed room and therefore do not run CO2. My plants did ok. That's about as anecdotal as you can get, LOL.

Oh and ProTekt can precipitate if not mixed first. But as long as you mix it first and do not pre-combine it then it's fine.

I checked my nutes and I am getting about 290 PPM after adding a 50/50 of grow and bloom. Do you think i should up it for better results?

i'm having a lot better results taking my bloom, gro, foliar, and silica and diluting them with warm/hot water 1:1 ratio, and then storing the excess (in a dark cool, not freezing place) because I think the nutes were mishandled. As i mix them i find salt deposits and such. My only issue with dyna gro is i'm starting up a coco hempy system and know that coco uses up extra cal-mag. Recommended is 1 tsp/gal of cal-mag throughout the grow and I'm looking on the mag-pro bottle and there is no calcium in there. Now i know that the bloom and gro are "complete fertilizers" so i look on the bottles and they both have 2% cal and .5% magnesium . i also use tap water and know cal is in tap water, so my real question is can i get away without going out and buying some cal-mag feed and ditching the mag pro? or what do you guys recommend ?
also if you do coco with dyna gro please post up your nute regime if you have the time!

So my Pro-tect arrived yesterday. I made a foliar spray with it using double the recommended dosage just for this very first feeding. The (1gal) spray also contained Liquid Kelp, one drop Superthrive, Cal-mag, and Liquid Karma. Does this sound like a recipe for disaster? It doesn't have much nutrient value to it and I'm hoping it will help with any shock suffered from a recent transplant. I guess I will feed the remainder of this mixture every week through out veg unless I notice any adverse effects.
Comments? Also, my ph is way low at the moment, trying to get it back up, so I'm flushing every couple of days and not feeding (into the soil) for the time being.

Foliar sprays are for the birds, IMO. I think what you're doing has no upside and could only stand to harm the plant. Just keep your root zone in good shape and supply an adequate environment, the plant will take it from there.

Ok, so only feed Pro-tect through the soil is your suggestion? I didn't see directions for that on the bottle, but I will read through this thread. I'm sure I can find some good measurements etc.
I haven't had any problems with the foliar spray, it does seem to help in my veggie garden and hasn't harmed my cannabis yet. The only thing different this time is no EWC, fish emulsion, molasses or compost tea, and the addition of Pro-Tect. Have you really not noticed any benefits from foliar sprays Homebrewer?

benefits from foliar: in early veg it helps plants harden off more, and keep a tighter internodal length because when you spray them the fan will make the leaves pull more than normal and naturally strengthen the nodes
Quicker nute delivery for deficiencies
Quicker absorption rate
slows down insects (they hate nutrients)
disadvantages: clogging stomata, need to rinse them
chance of light burn when not done in darkness
can't do while budding --->encourages mold


so i like to foliar feed if im just giving a plant straight water or if i think that it needs the extra nutes quickly. the leaves absorb nutes much faster than the roots but I agree that its better to rely on your roots and leave your leaves alone. Know that the silica may be clogging stomata so you need to clean the leaves off with water.
on top of all this have an intake filter to prevent dust from collecting on leaves/bulb/ reflective surfaces

I'm not saying anyone is wrong. I'm just trying to keep the stuff out of my soil while I flush it. Attemping to get my pH back up. So foliar seemed like a good temporary substitute.

I've never felt the need to spray my plants with anything other than pest control stuff. So on one hand I can't comment as to its effectiveness, but on the other hand I'm confident in saying that you shouldn't ever need to spray your plants with nutrient-type-stuff if you've got healthy plants. I personally don't like to over-complicate this otherwise easy process.

Yep, and as a seasoned gardener you'd think I'd learn my lesson by now! Just burned a bunch of tropicals by spraying the leaves with 1 Tbs. of MaxiCrop in 1 gallon of rainwater, surfactant, and a TINY pinch of boric acid. I was just experimenting like I do a lot but in the future will apply MaxiCrop as a soil drench. To be honest with you, I'm still not convinced of the merits of MaxiCrop. Seems to be another snake oil with no real world value.
