Dwc vs Soil

Doing my first proper hydro after mainly growing in soil or coco. I'm amazed at the growth in the dwc.

Dwc photo taken at roughly 2.5 weeks and the other soil pics closer to 3 weeks.

All from seed and the dwc has been really easy so far. Touch wood. Hopefully I don't run into to many issues down the track.

Isnt that an rdwc?
And whats on top of your buckets?
Yeah it is RDWC, but it grows the same as a standalone dwc. Just easier to take measurements etc.

On top of the RES is just a lid from a dehydrator. I have got another bucket lid somewhere. But it doesn't really matter.

The others just have cloth tape over it.

Nice! Ive been wanting to build an rdwc how much did it cost ya to make?
It was about $200 nzd to make up. But I realized afterwards that my air pump is enough to do like 10 buckets lol. So when I build my next one for flowering, I'm going to run them all off the one big air pump and have a back up.

Also I added a UPS that cost me $100, we lose power a bit in winter. So just added insurance. :)

Two days off being three weeks old. So basically the same as those soil ones. Absolutely no comparison. I think you could watch them grow in this system. Can't wait to build my flower tent system.

Looking nice! Are you running chilled water? Also sterile or beanies or nothing at all? Again nice setup kiwi.
Nah not chilled, where heading into winter now, so temps sit around the 21-22c mark when lights on and that will get less as the plants grow up and the light moves up.

When summer comes, I'm going to do what I do with beer and plumb two res into a freezer and run a stc1000 :). I'll be able to dial in an exact temp for the nutes.

I run it with hydrogen peroxide. I know some people say not to, but my local guy swears by it and as its working well so far, ill leave it as is :)

I ran peroxide when I first started as well. And yes I only run in the cooler seasons also and head out where it's free lighting in the spring. I've been having good luck with hydroguard but it's pretty pricey :(. My root mat in my tray is the thickest and whitest yet :). My moto is if it ain't broke don't fix it :). Unfortunately mine broke lol, had to do some revamping to save the crop :(.

I dont think I fully understand how global seasons work. I thought the entire world went into every season at the same time. What country are you in?

Wow. Learn something new every day. So your winter is april-august ish? Thats really odd to think about.
•Spring - September, October, November.
•Summer - December, January, February.
•Autumn - March, April, May.
•Winter - June, July, August.

Lol no winter in the us is summer in au/a lot of Asia.
Da fuk? Where'd you learn your geography?!

Show me which part of Asia is in the southern hemisphere! Africa, sure. Not mainland Asia.

In the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed compared to the northern. Their fall is our spring, their summer is our winter.

The best part about that sentence is that it doesn't matter where 'us' and 'them' are, lol
