Hello all,
My question is I have a Tangerine Dream mother plant that I would like to put in the ground this season I'm moving and don't have time or room to flower her, she's a DWC plant and I'm not sure if she could penetrate the soil (even back filled with Ocean Forest) has anyone ever attempted or completed something like this. its not a good idea. Too much stress with be induced which will hurt harvest. + the plant wont have any support cause the root is just one giant mass instead of spread out. and by the time the plant has time to even start new root growth(which isnt very likely) it will be too late by harvest time.. IMO

I have done it a few times with a 80% success rate, so yes it can be done, but I made sure to baby them for the 1st 2 weeks while the mycorrhizae i added colonized and began its thing, but after that it took off....I used both a regular hydro table with clones in 5" netpots with hydroton, and when roots hit out the sides , I transplanted them in 3g smart pots, and I also used an Under Current system for some big gals (2'-3' bushes)with at least 2-3g size worth of roots and transplanted right into homemade 40g-60g smart pot type containers......and yes they can get stressed but no different then transplanting clones, or repotting in my opinion, its all about prep and care...I used quality soils , mycorrhizae , B-1, and some good care....and all mine sure did start new root growth....also I did not over fert or even use a "standard" amount, always a little less than called for(with added foliar applications to reduce stress) so they were not in hyper mode when put into soil , that happens after they get adjusted and mycos do there thing!!!
I will say it is not a guarantee but some have done it and some havent , I could afford to experiment, but most cant!!!

So somewhat of an update I lost the mother plant I was gonna do this with so it won't be happening. Her air stone got tangled when I untangled it I felt one yes one of the small roots brake, when I came back in the next day she was going, tried what I could but she didn't make it...
