i got a 22"x40" space i was wondering what would be a good height to make it? im splitting the 40in in half for veg flower. im using a 600w hps for flower with an air coolable reflector (also do i still need ventilation system if i use a cool light?) and flourescent for veg, prolly cfls since 2 ft is the smallest tube lights i think. using 14 gal res for both with the veg having 7 sites and flower having 5 so i can accomodate a mother, sound good? any comments? objections? anything will help. thanx guys!

I'd say that entire area is too small for a 600w. For 8 sqft, that's 75 watts/sqft, if you use it for half the area, that'd be 150w, too much.

Your exhaust fan for the lamp can pull fresh air into the area too.

With a 14 gallon res in a 2x2 area, your plants will be at least 2 feet off the floor, so you'll need another 5 feet for grow and lights, so 7 feet minimum.

or what if i just used the whole space and run the complete cycle in there w/o separating. would a 14 gal tote be enough for 7 plants? if so what would be a good light combo? i was thinkin flourescent t-5's then an hps ne wattage suggestions

A 400w HPS should suffice. Even if it is air-cooled, heat could
still be an issue depending on your ambient temperature.

I don't know what he meant by using your light exhaust fan
to pull in fresh air, but you will need at least one exhaust fan
above your light, and a fan pushing air and heat into it...

If you suck outside air into your lamp, then it will have no effect on the growroom air. If you don't use the intake duct, IOW leave the intake hole on the lamp open, then the growroom air is sucked through the lamp and out. That will cause fresh air to come in.

That sounds good. Yeah, T-5's would be good for your space.
