Here are a few pics: What do you think? I think the roots should be longer but they were stalled a couple days by the problem stated in the above post. That is my water temp gauge not my cab temp. Just in case anyone was wondering.

Good job managing the situation.
Glad to hear the diy ress worked out.
The plants are looking good and healthy.

Thanks! The roots are really looking good now since I raised the level back up. Even since I took those pics. And they all seem to be mostly white roots. I think that is in large part to the small amount of bleach that I put in the res.

looking good so far BluBerry you should read my grow thread from the beginning I think you might like my seedling method which i modified a touch after the first two BBG and now it is perfect for hydro no transplanting shock or hassle with worrying about putting them into veg to soon and the pics are proof the system works great anyway if you shop around you can get a shop-vac mighty mini for around 60 bucks on the high setting it will move 500cfm and pretty easy hang and modify for vent ducting also pics of this in my thread and if you need a intake fan check out the in window fans most come with temp sensors and settings for direction and easy to mount in a corner of the grow room well have a great day awesome Blossoms to all Later

Thanks for stopping in Matatan & Kid. +rep to ya both for posting. I plan on doing the scrog by leaving the res in place and draining and filling with water hose thru a drain port on the igloo. If that wont work then ill get a submerged pump and place it in the res and drain it that way. Where there is a will, there is a way!! :)
Ill post some pics of the water hose hookup for the drain/fill if anyone wants to see it.

Day 14:
Two weeks old today. They are really starting to look good. Extrema has a spread the width of my 5 in net pot. El Mon 1 is really perking up, she actually is a little farther along than Extrema. Once in a scrog net it really wont matter tho but for now I do comparisons between the three plants. El Mon 2 is on 2nd node while the other two are on 3rd. Came home and cab was 85 and res temp was still a steady 66. Loving the Igloo res so far. Still havent got my filter and fan ordered so my intake/exhaust is still half ass. I did hook it up to my air duct in the floor beside the cab and dropped it down to 74 with the cab door completely closed. I usually cant close the door without it raising to mid 80s. So once I get it set up properly I should be in the money with that.

would love to c the pics of that and how it works. im guessing just like a drain n fill setup except your only draining and filling when ur changing the res.

Here is a quick picture of the drain and fill plug. Notice there are two shut offs. Just in case the first one fails or is slightly open then the other one should help prevent a flood. Hook the water hose up to the port and drain then turn on the water and refill it. I may have to add some hot water by hand to get the temps to even out right but the hose should make things alot easier.

I changed the res this water and raised to 430 PPM. So I will see how they like or dislike the nutes.

Day 15:
They seem to be looking good. I still have a little droopiness from both El Mons. I had my water level about an inch from the pots but noticed my rooters were drying out so I raised the level to flush and now have about a half inch gap. I have some pics. Suggestions? Extrema looks Great on the bright side!

El Mon 2: A couple days behind the other two
008.jpg

I think the water needs to be lower, but my rooters dry out so I had to hand feed to moisten the rooter
010.jpg

Bout a half inch gap. Drop the level?

Extrema looking good!

I don't think I'll be using Mylar anymore. It is a pain in my ass sometimes. I have it taped on the wall and also have a couple staples in it to hold it up. It's shiny and reflective but can be a royal pain. Then I read that it's electrically conductive. Meaning it could catch a fire if close enough to electricity. Next time I'll use some kinds sheets or something that is easier to install and less of a headache. On the flip side of things!

I haven't noticed much change over the past 24 hours. I was hoping to see a growth spurt of some sort from upping the PPMs. Not sure if Im underwatering or overwatering them. The rooters are still moist but El Mons still kinda droopy and not as big and opened up as Extrema. See what happens I guess. Getting kinda frustrated cuz I did this DWC grow cuz it's supposed to be faster with fast growth, but I have looked at others grow journals that grow in dirt and they are the same damn size as mine. Coulda saved my $300+ on nutes and coolers and shit and bought a bag of soil if thats the case. Just wanted to vent a little this morning before work. And I have NO BUD for the ride to work. Bullshit!!

Man I feel ya . I've. Seen pics of two weeks old from seed that looks bigger or about the same size that my 35 days old plants. I'm too thinking about dirt every day. I could have saved prolly about 600$, and I would rather just deal with water a few times a week. It's to early to say though, we are just starting with this type of grow and we won't Know if we like it or if we are going to be any good for sure until the end. I've grown white widow twice on dirt and it was way easier and chiper than dwc.

No bud! That sucks. I didn't smoke this morning before work either so don't feel bad but.... I've got a 1/4 of OG waiting for me at home for after work :)

:peace:

How the bubles in the ress look? And how many airstones? Remember what happened to me? They started to look sad because I didn't have enough bubles in there and now they look like a totaly different grow. I've noticed with good bubles I can keep the water at 2+" below from the net and the net gets a lot of water splashed on to it to keep new roots moist but not to much.

Make those bitches reach for the water, otherwise they get lazy and won't form a good root ball, this is why I like to use clones from an areo cloner, the roots are like 6" coming out of it.

Hang in there Blu persistence and patience are the key especially with any type of hydro.this is my first indoor/hydro also and it is a lot of learning new things and getting to know how the plants react differently than soil but keep with it and it will pay off I had the same thoughts you guys did coulda saved my money and done just as well in the beginning but now i am in flowering ,if you need some inspiration feel free to browse my grow from the start there are pics to document from the very beginning. macgyversmoke is in soil and we are only about a week apart from start :) keep the faith and many an awesome blossom

Thanks for the kind words guys. Thanks for stopping in Bonzi. I was kinda thinking the same thing cuz when I look at my roots. They are not long like I see some peoples roots are. I have alot of roots but not long roots so I think I have babied them too much and not made them reach for water. Yea Mel it gets frustrating, but I think it will pay off in the end using DWC. Im sure we will both get thru and try it again to make the next one better. I'm a very persistent but get agitated easily with some things. I have 2 dual air pumps with 2 6 in round airstones and a 10 and 14 inch air stone. I think I have enough bubbles. Could always use more but you can never have enough. I lowered the level a little bit and have been keeping an eye on the rooter and as long as that stays moist then ill leave the water level alone. Ill get it dialed in one of these days. We will never go back to dirt Mel once we get it dialed in. :)

I gave my babies a hair cut last night and topped them off at the 2nd node on two and the 3rd node on EL Mon 1
. They are looking good and the El Mon 1 has perked up a little bit but has a few white spots on one of the leaves. Not sure if you can tell from the pics, but the spots look like bleach spots (doubt they are), or like nute burn on the ends of the leaves, but its not on the end so I dont think its nute burn. I have seen a flying insect from time to time in there. Little black one, not sure if he could be doing the damage. Just a spot here and there on the leaf. Im not worried about it unless it starts getting worse. Day after hair cut pics.
