DWC roots....

i am using a DWC system and i noticed a lot of ppl using then have their roots pearly white... mine where like that now kinda tan color ... i believe the white roots are healthier and look better.. how do i get my roots back to white white.....

use a toothbrush wit a bit of toothpaste, wen u get up in the mornin giv them a brush,and giv them a brush b4 u go to bed,root will b nice an cleen in few days

Try adding a little hydrogen peroxide. 2 teaspoons per gallon of water in your res. I don't know what you have for a setup but get as much oxygen in the water as possible. add another airstone or two.

hydrogen peroxide will sort it out for you but dont just add 2 teaspoons as there are diff volums and % i use 9% hydrogen peroxide and add 2ml per ltr hope this help m8

Peroxide definately making a 5% solution....make sure your (not 100%) Organic otherwise you'll have bad juju with your nutes and dead plants!!!

depends on your nutes. botanicare will stain roots a little. it's fine. don't use peroxide in organics.

right now im using foxfarms grow big, superthrive, thrive alive b1, a little epson salt every couple waterings... my peroxide is 3% and i usualy add maybe 2 ml in about a gal or so of water.. ok i guess ill add a lil more.....

this is the girl im working with ... she is about day 70 veg.... and is being LST'ed..i like to veg mine for a while and get it kinda tall and then bend them down and let grow some more.... she was soil but got moved into soil about day 25 or so.... . it has one 30w cfl 5600k and 3 26w 2700k... above this plant... also in the room with my other 3 girls is 2 more 30w 5600k 3 30w 2700k and 3 more 26w 2700k....

peroxide is good and it keeps pests away..also having ladybugs around keeps them away too

Cover that white bucket with panda film, alluminum foil tape or something that will blackout the light. Duct tape still lets light in, especially with a white bucket, could you change it to black. You could do with raising your nutrient level. I've seen worse roots, they'll be fine.

what temp is the water? higher temps giver you darker/slimy roots and slow growth.

the white bucket has a lot of tape on it... to test the light i put a cfl inside the bucket and taped it up till i couldnt see any light... then i took my led mini mag-light and shined it to see if u can see thru and u couldnt but i added more tape just cuz....

oh and the nute lvl...... i was went to change my water out and put new clean water and thats how low it was when i opened it up. if u look at that pic again u will see 2small black lines... thats where my nute lvl is normaly... i dont have a thermometer to read it .. all i have is one for ppl.. lol and it dont go low enough...

Try keeping your bucket cleaner too, I scrub mine every time I flush.

yeah i take mine to the shower with one of those showerheads... and i blast hot hot hot water in there with a drop or two of dish soap and scrub it good then rinse with hot water.. put about a leter or so of water with a strong amount of peroxide and scrub again ... and then rise out for a about 3-5 min with cold water... and i clean the airstones real good as well...

i did just notice that in that pic the nute level was low and the roots that where in there are whiter then the roots that wernt...

^^^^thats weird. the roots that are in just oxygen are darker??

yeah i noticed when i went to fill up the res... when i pulled those roots out the bottom inch or 2 where like almost white white.. and the top part not in water just hanging in oxygen are darker yes...

after a day with the nute lvl back up the roots are getting back to white kinda.... maybe ill add some more peroxide tomorrow..

I would not worry about the color of the roots, different nutrients can change the color. I use Humus Acid and my roots are dark dark brown cause of the color of the acid.

yeah not really worried about it much i just like when u pull it out and they are pearly white rather then pulling it out and them looking brown... lol
