dwc ppm drop

I changed my res yesterday i put 850 ppm in the res. the lights come on today i check the ppm/ph.the ph is fine 5.7-5.8 ppm dropped by 40 ppm is my plant eating that much in 12 hours is this normal? Shes in week 4 of flowering. Any help is much appreciated

Perfectly normal but keep an eye on it. A lot of people would tell you, that because it did that you need to up the ppm but being a new res there may have been something available in the new res that the plant has been needing and it could have taken more of this faster.

Yeah but week 4 and only 850 ppm. What strain is it? I typically max out my ppm at around 1500 or so in weeks 5-6.

And I never go above 850-1000 for 10-14 different strains. 850 is more than enough and a great spot to find out more of what the plants like.

I must just have hungry plants. Cindy 99 mostly these days and some GDP. If I go below 1200 during 4-5 then I start to see deficiencies.

I went to 800 with one of my plant and it got a case of nitrogen toxicity. Other one loves it at 800.

Anyway, I have a "problem" with my plants. They were agressively toped, so they were slow to grow above "ground" for the first 30 days or so (too many growth sites, not enough energy for them all), but now they have almost monstruos roots and are growing like mad in all directions. The "problem" part is they drink about a liter a day each and get EC down by over 100 uS a day. On saturday I gave them fresh res with 800 and 600 uS and now they are both at 240. I wonder how far should I let them eat before giving them a fresh res. It seems that even if I gave them res change every 5 days, they would be living for a day or two on almost pure water. Perhaps I should increase nute dosage (although one plant when younger really didn't like much nutes), or perhaps get bigger buckets (curently each one is living in a 5 gal bucket with perhaps 3,8 gals of water).

For what it's worth I hardly ever change my Rez. I let it slowly draw down and top off with tap and then add a bunch of water and fresh nutes back to the level I want. Probably not the most thorough way to go about things as you never really know what is being absorbed at what rate..but since I never had a problems doing it this way it's just easier.

I would just top off with tap and add nutes to get you where you want to be. Just make sure the PH floats around a bit. Lower during veg 5.5-5.9 or so and higher in flower 5.9-6.4

The strain is critical+ from dinafem.i found the sweet spot at 840-850

Always nice to perfect a strain. I have my c99 on lockdown. I'm wondering how much plant size plays into the equation in terms of ppm. This last round I had to veg for two weeks longer and the plants were monsters and I mean monsters when I put them in the flower room. I seriously had stalks the size of small Gatorade bottles in about four of them. Towards the end of bud stack I was giving them 1600 ppm and they were drinking around 4-5 gallons a night! I thought for sure I would dry them but never happened

Oh yea this is my first hydro grow and im loving it.i tried heisenburgs ewc tea its the bomb.this criticals leaves are almost black lol shes a dark one and even the fan leaves are trichomed up.

Nice. If you really want to see some impressive weight then order a bottle of paclobuytrozol ergo... phosphoload which also has diaziminode (sp?). You want to add about 1.5 ml per gallon and run it for two days ONLY then change Rez. This will halt the stretch and blast flower production. Seriously like flowers in 4 days after the flip.

Yes California banned it and you have to buy on eBay. And you'll think fuck dude, $100 for a liter! But after your first tub you will say fuck..this is Awesome!

Disclaimer.. The EPA has shown that is can cause cancer. However they injected ab-fucking-surd amount in rats every day for around 6 weeks. The amount of these chemicals present in your finished bud would be minuscule given the biomass of the plant, how much your using, and absorption rates. Don't use phosphoload if you don't have good air circulation and control of your humidity or you WILL get bud rot. They flowers get THAT dense.

I wish I took a picture if those stalks, they were ridiculous. But you will find if you ever start growing on a pretty large scale you simply have too much work to do to fuck around taking pictures and posting them. Glad your liking hydro. I love it, mostly because after harvesting 14 monster plants I have one garbage bag of roots that gets thrown away; not a small utility trailer worth of dirt. Phuck that noise.

Wow, just wow. My plant got from 850 to 650 uS in 24 gours. I'll probably be changing the res in 4 days :s

What do you guys think, should I go over 850 next time?

remember when adjusting ppm go gradually a 500ppm jump up or down instantly can stress ur plants. take it slow patience is required

You mean I should not mix my nute solution and just put the plants in but mix 1/3 an then wait some time before adding more?

Perhaps. I really hope to avoid that as 20L (5,28 gal) is a standard and bigger (30L for example) buckets are much tougher to find.
