DWC in 5 gallon bucket

Okay so I do a plant in a 5 gal bucket in DWC. The large netcup sits down about 6 inches into the bucket so I can only put in about 3.75 gallons of water. My question is will it hurt to fill the bucket up over the bottom of the netcup ??? My medium would still be 3 or 4 inches above the water line.

Its fine as long as your not saturating your medium with water. Anyways its fairly aerated, ive never had drowning issues do to running a high water line. No worries.

Makes sense... Cut down the rez changes and its hard to get my hand into bucket when water is lower for ph/ppm readings... ANYONE ELSE???

Sounds like you got one of them big ass net cups for in a pond. Make up your mind, soilless or mediumless.

No it won't hurt, and why is the 'medium' still that high? Just fill'er up.

I'd say get a 3 inch net cup, a neoprene insert, ditch the media all together, fill it to within an inch from the top, and call it a day.

Go with high water level til you get roots coming out of net pot. Then lower water level to where the bottom of net pot is just getting wet from the bubbles popping.
If yo used neoprene insert to try and grow out a plant it would be to restrictive on main staulk.. They work great in cloners, just not for full grow.

Not really, doesn't seem to slow anything down, plus it can always be removed later.
