DWC First Hydro Grow Journal 65w CFL

This is my first attempt at a hydroponic grow. I have built a box and started some seeds lets see how it goes.
Day 1

Ok, I finally figured it out, uploadin the pics i mean. Here is my little lady from day 1-3 and a shot of my grow box. I made a 10 gal 6 site DWC system, using solo cups as net cups ( just cut slits in side and drilled holes in bottom of cup). I used aquarium gravel as my media. I was goin for the el'cheapo set up so i also bought the cheapie wally air pump and 10" air stone. Been using just Fox Farm grown big, pretty weak solution in my rez. But shes been lovin it more to come

Looks good man. The best way to learn is on a budget , keeps you honest. And if it does go bad your not out near as much. Best of luck.

Day 9 and 13 shots, the first strong roots emerging from my homemade net cups. This is a Blueberry plant by the way, i did not mention that in the earlier posts.

day 16 update
i never thought that it could be so easy to grow hydroponics, i will never grow the same again haha

Here are some shots from the evening of the 17th day, growth is now exponential. There was one small "hole" in one of the new growth leaves, it almost looks like something ate it but maybe some sort of pH imbalance or something only on one finger of the leaf.

day 18 update, Blueberry is growing like a weed hehe, the roots are doubling in size every 24 hrs. Im going to make a standalone set up for her and put her under her own 100w HPS.

lookin good, that one plant isnt weed what the hell else you growin?

This is my first grow also. i did my systems exactly like you and im having problems. I will let you know what i learned so far. the colored tubs are not light proof which is a necesaty. The fix was plasticoat at lowes, a ruberized spray paint. put it on really thick and multiple coats. The more air the better. I moved My plant into individuall 5 gall buckets with a big air pumps and huge 5in circle air stones. I wasn't running ben. bacteria. this i think was problem #1. my roots brown like that and thought it was nute stain. If this is root rott you want to figure this is the time to fix it or start over. Im running peroxide and ran hydroguard once. and I still feel like Im loosing the battel. My leaves looked like yours also. Mine were 7 weeks from seed and now I'm in 3rd week of flower.

do not run organics if you use peroxide. peroxide ruins your plants defense

Im just using a Fox Farm Grow Big soln (9 teaspoons for 7 gallons), nothing else, you think that i will get root rot?? i think that it is growing like a crazy bastard, but this is my first hydro grow, always has been in soil. Well thank you for your input i will look into a bigger air pump and i was already thinkin of puttin her in her own bucket. She is only 19 days old.

I had root rot also with my DWC, it is a nightmare, I had to remove like 95% of the roots from 1 of the plant, it did recover like 3 weeks later but some strain will not. Make sure you have more than plenty air going into the DWC and get some root protection stuff, I am using pythoff now every so often.

Day 20 update, Blueberry growing insane, have got rid of the 65w CFL and replaced with my 100w Hps. She is loving it. I let a friend of mine use my 100w light for a few months and now, every now and then it shuts off, like the ballast kicks out, it stays on but takes it another couple minutes to light back up, do i just need a new bulb or did my friend make some sort of irreversible error on my light anywhoo, happy tokin guys

P.s. made a standalone bucket for the Blueberry, dual outlet air pump, dual 5" air stones, fully lightproofed with aluminum tape. I still think i am going to have some root rot issues if i dont buck up and buy some benny bacteria. any input?? will take pics this afternoon and post soon

day 22 update
here is the blueberry in her standalone dwc, starting to think i should have spent some money on nutes and addies early on well there is no stopping this train now

lookin good, i had the same prob with my 400 watter and the problem turned out to be a bad timer, try replacing that and see if it helps
