DWC Buckets - light proofing

Hi all. I'm looking to do a DWC run on my next grow and I got these buckets cheap.

My instinct is to light proof them. But I get conflicting info online. Some say every bucket needs to be light proofed and some say so long as its not clear its fine.

Would you light proof the bucket attached?

Was going to use foil tape, but its expensive over here. So maybe automotive spray would work best, as it will stick better.

It surely wont hurt to paint them since its so inexpensive but I dont feel its necessary. I run blue buckets from the hardware store and have never had any issues with roots or temps in the res. I think you would gonna be ok with them as they are though.

Just get darker buckets, much easier in the long run, probably same cost over all...

I got a pair of grey Lowes buckets, they are light proof, but most others from there arent. Got a paint store nearby? 5 gallon light proof pails there I bet...
