DWC bubbles question

Why such large netpots? You really only need 3" to 4" for dwc.

Good question! When I started dwc grows years ago I blindly purchased 12 inch net pots, ishould have done more research. That much grow media is totally unnecessary. I typically veg a while (8 weeks) to get big bushes. I am actually in the processing of changing that so I'll use 3 inch net pots and veg only a few weeks. I need more harvests!

So can you confirm is that level of turbulence 'not' too much for the roots causing breaking roots? I just got a 20 Watt pump with a 4 manifold for my 13 gallon Single RDWC units. With three small air stones (one for the top drip) I get that rising turbulent spots where the air stone is. I am trying to decide how much turbulence is too much. I suppose I could get bigger airstones which would spread out the turbulence?

Here's a short clip showing the amount of bubbles I have. My yields have always been impressive, so don't be concerned about "too much", work on solving "too little".

I've been doing DWC for 8 years now and never have issues and get big plants quick.. I was just wondering about the bubbles bc sometimes my airstones get caught up in the roots and I don't see many bubbles.
I have heard using paint bucket strainers will keep the roots out of the pipes and airstones.
