I'm not sure tbh, I use potassium in the form of mono potassium phosphate (mpk) but that doesn't have much if any effect on the ph, @xtsho comes to mind for chemistry related he's very knowledgeable and might be able to help you?

oh yeah i’m sure he will @xtsho potassium bicarbonate as ph up? i’m not really doing much hydro so don‘t really want to add shit ton of bottles to my grow i just have a one part fertilizer, cal-mag, liquid silica and distilled water. what can i do with these in coco lol
Silica/silicon afaik is the same, are you using growth technology?

I have found that clones taken when the donor has started flowering always take longer to sprout roots. Always took yellowing as a positive sign they are doing something and still alive.

i’m using aptus regulator for silica its just the acid form which is more available for plants as i understand

usually i take that yellowing as a rooting sign when going with peat too but its parent blue kush did the same thing without throwing roots, thats actually why i bought the dwc cloner because i got tired of not being able to see whats going on down there and it turns out nothing was haha

Yeah strain dependent really. Had a Tangerine Dream mother I wanted to keep but was very hard to clone, on average 3-4 weeks of hoping they were still alive for like 20% success rate. They would just sit there, not doing nothing stuck in some kind of clone-limbo not growing not dying just existing lol. IME the best success I have is when the temperature is 84F/29C no matter the medium, if I take the cuts at the right time and nail the humidity I can see roots in under a week. Had an aero-cloner too, in the end it was more trouble than it was worth so just sticking to big clear soda cups, like fast food drink cups, with clear lids, half filled with coco. That way they are in their own little individual clone domes and I can see roots when they come and also monitor moisture levels at a glance.

same with my blue kush get 10 clones and throw a party if 1 roots haha i guess its just genetics thats actually why i lost my original blue kush a month or so ago. damn thing never rooted luckily i had made s1s out of it so maybe i can find some resembling or maybe even surpassing the original in there.
i was looking at aero cloners too but they were just a little more bulky and seem a bit more complicated with submerged pumps and all it felt like a higher maintenance setup. so went with simple dwc in the end.

i stayed away from organic inputs because i dont want any microbes in there yet. i’m very very new to this dwc thing and just trying to start with the basics and sterile.
i agree 13 days seemed long to me too its actually 15 now. when i first started i filled it 2/3 and gradually increased the water levels to find a sweetspot where the stems had water droplets forming at the end. somehow that felt like the best situation for them to be in.
do you submerge the stems?

No I don't submerge them. I leave about 2" above water level. The humidity and high 02 from popping bubbles is enough. I like to scrap the stem that's exposed to the water. Just take off the thin epidermis layer. The back of a knife works good.

yeah i did one scraped in the new batch and one without scraping so lets see which one roots first. so not really a problem submerged or unsubmerged.

I can't say for sure that submerged won't work, I've always kept them above water. Once roots pop out, they do grow fairly fast and get to the water. But by then they're taken out or transferred to a hydro system with nutrient.

yeah i’m seeing roots on my 1 week+ old cuts now. will post pictures but when i started i was kinda filling the reservoir 3/4 and adding small amounts of water each day to find a sweet pot and i guess the sweet spot is 4/4 haha
well anyway getting roots on some after a week or so today but bluechems are not gonna make it plain and simple. hard cloners.
also cracking the dome a bit i’ve seen roots overnight on some but also they looked limp and lifeless so i’m keeping it sealed for a couple of days.
the first rooted clone also got tranplanted yesterday and i was worried that it was gonna be dead tonight when i check on it but no looking pretty good. pics on that tomorrow

Always submerged here. I like to "set and forget it". I leave it in the corner at ambient light. Roots to the bottom in 10-14 days. Few drops of bleach and I sprinkle some MPK(maybe 50ppm, not really needed but helps).
I don't want to bother with keeping the water level "optimal" since it's not needed. Taking cuts should be the easiest and least amount of work growing. No fucking dome, why bother when it only cause problems lol!?

Agreed! Fuck a dome. It only is useful for plugs. Any hydro cloner I've used, I never mist or raise ambient RH.
I'll give the submerged way a shot. I'm just worried about goopies but I suppose that's why you use a drop of bleach. Makes sense.
Does that Chlorine disapate buy the time roots appear? Or it's so low value that it won't hurt anything but potential nasties?

yeah dome is because there is split unit blowing directly towards the dwc cloner so without a dome it’d hard to keep them alive. also this run cuts were a little small so couldnt go submerged. maybe next time. i am using hypochlorous acid instead of bleach but dont have a ppm meter so its mostly guess work lol.

yeah nice this has a flat top mine has a raised top so clones have to be around 15cm to be submerged so i can’t yet. not this run anyway.
well i was out with a couple of buddies and had a bit of chocolate and feeling very tired atm so i’m not gonna be able to upload pics today. but definitely tomorrow

well i am getting roots which is good. i changed the res 2 days ago because i had translucent biofilm build up in the tank. i emptied it and washed it and filled it with plain tap water and 0.5 ml of bleach. roots were kinda going off white but after the res change and bleach they seem better now. these 2 got transplanted today.
i also added another cut at april 5th so lets see how long is that gonna take to root.
i didn’t add any nutrients this time. maybe that was the reason for the biofilm build up even with the hypochlorous acid. anyway i ran out of hypochlorous so i’m using bleach for now. though i ordered some more.
