I would throw down the change for an Area 51 if I wasn't a bit skeptical that the CUSTOMS charges wouldn' be astronomical. I know from experience that even if you declare something to be USD 100, they will charge you Euro 50 customs + Euro 15 processing charge (UPS and Fedex make most their coin this way) to get the package...and if you can't pay..no problem, they'll keep the package and use it themselves! I've spoken to the GN guy and he told me that the DP light is technically the same light but not as adavnced (they have done some R&D and added spectrums to the newest MS006). I sort of think of it as the difference between a Iphone 4S and an Iphone 5---disclaimer, I don't own an Iphone nor have I ever owned one, so I'm pretty much using a metaphor based on other people's views---

I think that the DP light is good but there are better...the free seeds are what makes me want to buy it. Also, I've never tried growing with LEDs before so maybe it might not be the best idea to throw down so much money for high end.

That said, if you are able to afford a Area 51 light and don't have the issues with customs that I have...I'd go that route all day! But, as you should know, it's just my opinion which doesn't really count for much except in my own little head!

ferro & blackstar are also sponsors over there & the site will not allow anyone to even put up links to other LED's unless they have done a documented test grow with the unit & filled in a stat sheet at the end ... you can't say fairer than that lads lol....& im just a muppet whos been growing for about 2 years btw

Hi viracochadwc how many grownorthern panels did you use on the 388g automazar and were they the ms004 or 006? That was an awesome grow and a beast of a plant.

thanks Andy ...Its a bit embarrassing having my 1st ever thread on the 1st forum I joined up on DP's website for all to see .Man I talked some shit lol. But shows even a new grower can pull awesome weights with GN LED's & I am pleased to get some kudos for the grow

It was just one MS-0006 ,but with a 90w Prakasa UFO & a 35w CFL thrown in there as well lol .Now I run 2xMS-0006's in the same 1.2m tent & look forward to growing out some more DP gear . They sure do make monster Autoflowers

heres a AUTO strain im testing atm & there on day 42 (So y'all can see them in ation !) ...should be done by day 85 & im hoping I get a nice haul in a few weeks

as you can see the tent is stuffed ....the CFL got added a few days ago (mainly for a few more degrees heat) & I vegged them under just the 1 unit upto around day 30 & added the 2nd one then ...you can switch between 2 , 4 , & 6 pods on these LED's too ....so you can run just 2 clusters at seedling stage & increase as you grow

How about a used evergrow nova II (3 hours)? Is it worth it?

love the terrible rating this thread has achieved .I thought tokers where positive people but this place seems the oppositegood luck finding a decent unit OP

Hey andyhot and viracochaDWC....thanks for the insight and all but in my realm, we might say just to be nice "vai a fare un culo" or in English terms vafancul.
I appreciate your insight to a bit but spamming your products and hijacking another thread is the epitomy of troll...start your own thread or vai a quel paese. I almost want to thank you because you've narrowed down my choices...

those are the same lights as vipar. They do pretty good. Vipar is in the UK and evergrow is in China. It may be around the same price with shipping and customs. plus you want to consider warranties. all these apollo rebrands seem to pop up almost over night the past year or so.. cidly usually holds up the warranty. they try to send you replacement parts before sending the light to be repaired though.


V The GN looks to have the same proprietary heat sink as cidly uses. So show me the insides. I'm sure they use the same led's epistar, epiled.

Hi fanofpanic can I ask why you call me a troll and spammer for asking someone a question about their grow? Also my opinion is that Diy is the best way for quality leds on a budget.

you could well be right my friend ?... i think they are epistar chips but its the spectrum & lens angles ect that make each company's LED different ...(Loads of LED use epistar but do not all perform the same) all the Q&A on the site I frequent tells me that 1 LED that looks exactly the same as another can be a complete lemon while the other kicks ass !. GN sell decent LED's fact ... Im just a happy customer sharing my experience with the units to give the OP a bit of insite & help him make a good choice .I was pissed at my 1st LED purchase & extremely happy with the GN ...Im not going to get into some LED conflict about it (seen way to much of that already )... i have no experience with other LED's other than the really bad one I bought 1st ... you seem to know a bit more about them than me & can recommend other decent units as well , All good bro & when I get the rebel upgrades I'll take a few pics of the guts if you like ?.

I threw up pics of my grow to show them in action & prove there quality lights .My work is done here ... & I rated the thread as excellent as I have not seen any bad info yet ...im guessing whoever rated it terrible is having a good troll over on youtube now & feel a bit sorry for individuals who go out of there way to express negativity.

lol no problem at all dude ... troll haha .I looked in this thread because of the title (ASKING FOR OPINIONS?) Then I offered my opinion & a bit of background to back it up ...thats it ,nothing more ... I dont need to prove fuk all to anyone here & was trying to help ...then I was asked a Q about the grow I did from another member & responded .So please dont call me a troll or spammer ...there not my product this thread has helped me narrow down my choice of company

With the apollos you can get what ever spectrum you want. Its the hardware that makes the difference between companies not spectrum. If spectrum varies, either way its still the same light.

I like the upgraded pcbs from grow northern. All luxeon es with ledil reflectors..nice stuff. Too bad you can't just buy it like that!?

its interesting they find the ledil reflector a upgrade versus the full lens style. I always figured it was better but rarely see it used..

After some thought and some long exhaustive (and exhausting) searching, I think I'm going to go with 4 Astir panels at the beginning. I like the fact that they allow me to be really flexible in my setup due to their size and they are not a repackaged chinese factory brand. I looked to the chinese factory sites but with the Chinese Lunar New Year and all, I can't get a response and the shipping times seem sketchy as well as the customs duties.
The Hans Panel looks nice and I am still considering them...if only I knew how to make a decision !

Plant Phototonics would have been my choice if they only would respond to one of my emails (I also was able to score a 10% discount from a site they sponsor but am still awaiting the response to that email as well)

The customs duties were the only reasons I excluded Area 51(they only declare the value to be USD 99, but that hasn't stopped customs in the past from charging quadruple taxes and duties on that amount, cause they seem to know what's up) and California Light Works responded only once to my email and then stopped when I told them the relatively small size of my order.

I was tempted by the Dutch Passion offer, but, after further review, realized that I'm not lacking in seeds at the moment ...

So, that's my final (?) verdict...maybe I should stop researching so much and make up my damn mind.

Also, apologies to viracochaDWC for my earlier rant...too much grappa at the time...
