Dust collector 1 HP

I have this dust collector sitting around....It's a 1 hp from Harbor Fright. It was on sale for $79.00.When I got it. Man does this thing BLOW and SUCK!! sure beats the hell out of them inline blowers when it comes to CFM.... If you have a harbor close by check them out.

My question is, can I use a fan speed controller to adjust this big of a motor?

Probably not, all the fan speed controllers I've seen are rated only for 4 or 5 amps. This thing is more like 7A. But I'm sure with a little googling you can find a 7a speed controller.
