How many plants would be good in a 4X4 tent? I'm new to growing, which is why I just registered to this forum. Not sure what you mean by type of growing?

I would suggest 4 plants in 5 gallon cloth pots...and especially as you are a first timer grow in soil!
4 plants veg them for 4 to 6 weeks depending on how much you top em and how tall/bushy you want them...Once they start to stretch they will fill in and once flowers start to get heavy you will be supporting branches either staking them or with YOYO supports. Lots of work but fun and worth it in the end!
Different Types of grows would be DWC aka deep water culture, hydroponic, coco or soil. Also just a straight plant grow, or SOG aka sea of green or SCROG aka screen of green...

Honestly only you can answer that but....How are you planning on starting? Clones, seeds? I would suggest a SCROG...Just for the fact that it actually supports the flowers once they really start to develop and you wont have to be staking up stretchy and droopy branches heavy with flowers!

Sooo...to answer your question...a 4 plant soil grow, in cloth pots under a SCROG...I will be doing that next time.

What MD said..."targeted word searches work great for finding specific information" I am no expert on LED lights, tho they are new and developing and I wouldn't mind going that way one day. For now I veg under a 6 light T5 and flower under a cool tube 600w HPS! It works for me!Depends on where you are located...You could go to your local indoor garden store, most people there are very helpful!

I started that way and my first grow I had 6...that was crowded...I have found 4 worked best and occasionally one in the middle, like a 5 on a dice. Best advice get the roots to develop well in Veg
