Ducting and filter question

Is the length of ducting from the exhaust to the filter important? I have about a 6 foot run of ducting from my 460cfm fan to my attic. Once the ducting enters the attic I'm wondering if I can run 25 more feet which puts the ducting a lot closer to my attic access to make make the air filter a lot easier to access when I need to add or remote the filter.

I understand the longer run will cause the air flow to decrease but will it impact how well the filter works? If so would a smaller CFM rated filter suffice?

Thanks

Well the main reason is space. My tent is in a closet and only 5foot 3 inches tall. Trust me I've thought about that since it makes it easier. Between light, hangers, filter, and pots I'm losing a solid foot and a half.

You better up size your ducting if your going to be going that far. 50% drop in flow with that much flex pipe AND a filter..

Wait... your filter is at the exhaust end?

I have the same tent, 2'7" wide? You really won't lose any space putting it up in the corner.

3 feet wide and 20 inches deep. I'll set it up inside the tent to start then based on everyone's advise. Just trying to save the space. Thanks all.

Ok bout the same as mine, be sure it's supported on something, the neg pressure and weight on top could collapse it.

I'm using the 2 bars that run front to back to support it on both sides and seems to be working well. With fan on full it def sucks that tent in pretty hardcore. Thought maybe it would just get sucked into a black hole!

Lol do you have a fan speed control? If your temps can handle it turn that baby down to about 80% and you'll cut down on noise and the near inversion of your tent, your zippers will thank you.

Lol yep I run it about half speed most of the time. Nearing end of summer but still getting a few high 90s days which will put me at 84-86 degrees running 8 t5 bulbs in that tent. No way I can run a HPS in there without adding AC to the closet so will prob go 2x300 watt led or 1 600 watt led. Waiting for summer to end.

I've got a 400w MH with a 6" cool tube, I'll be posting a new thread after work, you can check it out then. If you're buying new get the 600w for sure, mine was used for 80 bucks, otherwise I'd have the 1000 or 600.

I'll check out your thread once it's up. Haven't seen anybody else with this tent besides one guy who disappeared after he planted his seeds.

The question remains.. are you putting a carbon filter on your fan exhaust?

Fyi.. that is a clown town move. You will blow all that dust into the inside of your filter and ruin it. Thas why they have pretty filter sleeves around them. You coat the carbon with dust... tadah.. it doesn't do shit to remove smell.
