Dual PC Grow -- Auto AK and Auto Blueberry -- 2nd Grow

Hello all. This will be my second attempt to grow out of my home made PC growing chambers. To give any new comers a brief back story; I have grown and harvested an Aurora Indica in my last grow which started out as an eight plan perpetual. However, I was continually faced with heat and visibility issues. Thus, after much more planning and tweaking my PCs I believe I might have a winner. I have redesigned the air flow (to focus on the 'tops'/area right under the lights), ordered larger fans (which might have been unnecessary), ordered 12v adapters to replace my 5v adapters (for fans...), and have added some walls and will add some weather strip.

With all that said I would like to welcome you to my second grow. This time, as the title states, I will be growing Auto AK47 and Auto Blueberry from Lowlife. These seeds unlike my last are feminized and contained original breeders packaging. I have ordered my 12v chargers yesterday and will be expecting them within the next 14 days. After that I will finish building the 2nd unit, take some pics, and grab some soil and get started. So until then pull up a chair and watch some tv.bongsmilie

how much do you typically yeild from a pc grow?
Well, GF, on my first grow I pulled right over 7gs. However, my temps were horrid (90F+) and it was my first ever successful grow. I probably put that plant through more hell that I can imagine. Some people around here like V12 average around 16gs/plant and I have read some where that someone got over 20gs/pl with the ScRoG method.

I am expecting about 15gs/pl and will have 5 AK47s in one unit and 5 Blueberry in another. I think that this is a trustworthy goal since I have seen others accomplish it. The only problem, I believe, is getting past 15gs/pl is going to be a bit difficult. I am hoping that after I get my cabinet I can convert one of these units into a Mother Chamber and leave the other as a Flower Chamber. Giving the Flower Chamber a hydro unit and if applicable installing a 150HPS are the only ways I see improving on the yield.

Thanks for stopping by GF. I hope that I answered you question and if your interested stop back by.

has this died/
Nope, just been waiting on my 12v adapters from Hong Kong. Should be in by this coming week then I will get some pics up. After the initial rebuild on the second unit which is what the pics will be of, then comes the growing. I am extremely excited and patiently waiting their arrival.

Good news everyone. I received the 12v adapters right after xmas. I have hooked one up to test out the more power and it really helps. I am currently testing 3x30W with 1x3in fan and 1x 120mm fan as exhaust. I just completed the testing of 2x30W ending with a high of 80F and averaging 78F so things are looking up for me! The noise has tripled but with a sweet reward. I hope that the temps will average 85F with 3x30W and a home made carbon filter. I am having trouble coming up with ways to rig the carbon filter up to the back of the exhaust fan. If anyone has any information or pics of this I would like to see them. I am thinking about velcro, but would like to weigh the options. I still need to run to hobby lobby and get some supplies for my visibility issues then, I will get some before and after pics up. I will be doing that and testing the temps over the next five days with the 31st being germination day ;) if all goes well. I am really excited to get this grow on the road and I believe I have dotted all my 'i' and crossed all my 't'. Now I just need to cross my fingers and hope so.

growerboy, glad you subbed to the thread. I believe that it will be an interesting ride for the both of us =)

v12, glad to see that your still lurking around these forums! My first grow was a newbie nightmare, but I have high hopes that this one will be much better. I have isolated my heat issue, I think, and have purchased more reliable, feminized seeds. Off topic, but I believe you'll appreciate it...I finally got my Jaguar. I got a 2002 S-Type and enjoy it like a first time father. =) Thanks for subbing to the thread, too.

Hey Xander
Great choice of wheels.
Loving the new avatar too. Not heard anything of him since the 80's when he did some UK gigs.
Sounds like you've done plenty of background work for this grow, I'm sure it'll pay off.
Good luck.

Welcome back everyone,

I have some really good news and some bad news. I, also, have finished heat temp test results. 3x30W+1x3in fan+1x120mm fan= 90F highest; 88F average (12hrs of testing)....3x30W+2x3in fans= 82F highest (**6hrs of testing). This is great news because even if I have a homemade carbon filter (+2/3F) and in midsummer (+2/3F) the highest I should see is 88F. However, the **'s in the 6 hrs testing leads me to my bad news. Seems I do silly shit when I am hy. I was in the middle of doing the 3x30W+2x3in fans test and I was checking the temp, but my walls were not stabilized and I have broken two "arms" off one of my fans. Nothing major, but will have to order a new fan eventually.

I have, also, went to hobby lobby and got all the supplies I need to shut out all the light. I purchases foam-board (8.99) and weather strip (2.99) and will start working on completing the first unit tonight. Sadly, I got called into work so what was to be an all day even will be an all night event. I will be taking before and after pics along with some pics of setting up a light proof unit since I have learned a few tricks along the way. Once, done with the visibility issue I will then proceed to the final heat test; 3x30W+2x3in fans(24hrs). If all goes well tonight, tomorrow will be g-day ;)

I still need a few things for this initial grow:
-pH meter -- Need some help on this one. Not to for sure what I need since I will be using soil, but I understand I really need one. $30ish limit
-pH down -- I am thinking about using all natural concentrate lemon juice. There is a topic on ROI but I can not make out if it is okay for soil?

crazytrain, Thanks for the link. I will definitely read over it before this grow. I would like to ask you is the taste/potency any different on dwarfs? Thanks for dropping by!

v12, thank you good sir. Glad to hear you dig eek a mouse! My favorite song is ganja smugglin', check it out if you have time. I am not to for sure how old it is, though. I can't wait to show you the changes I have made to my units ;)

Hello to all. Been a night or two since I last posted and seems I am only a few inches further. The first unit I had to construct not using a right angle, which consisted of me measuring and eye balling the cuts. This, sadly, turned out to be a pretty bad idea as it allowed to much light leakage. The next night with a bit more building experience and a small right angle I started construction on the second unit (will have to redo the 1st unit). The second unit looks much more promising, but I need a few more supplies and the funds are low. I have one of the light traps for the intake fan complete, but it is only held together by packaging tape as my glue gun seemed to vanish. When I get a bit more accomplished I will update further, just need to get my ass back to hobby lobby and get some more foam board and a larger right angle.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a pH meter, and do I have to test the run off if using soil?
Does anyone use lemon juice to pH down tap water?

crazytrain, super excited to hear! Thanks!

v12, I am having trouble sealing the doors up (visibility) do you have any recommendations? I am thinking about using weather stripping then double/quad(on trouble leaks) up on the mylar since I have so much.

Happy new years everyone. I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holidays. I actually have been working fairly hard on getting my units up and running. I was able to get a few more supplies and, finally, a large right angle. The second unit is currently looking the best, as I said before, the first one needs new walls with a more accurate cut. As for the second unit, I have all the walls up, one light trap box with a fan as intake set up, and a small hole for wires and a fan opening on the back wall. Both fans are up and running in the second unit and I have actually just started my 24 hour heat test; 3pm tomorrow will be 12 hours. I will post the results about this time tomorrow.

The second unit is still a little ways off from being complete, but I am getting really close. First off, I need to put up the light traps in the light trap box, then I need to seal all the cracks around the walls, fans, and nooks. Once all that is complete I will then finish the unit by installing the home made carbon filter and mylaring the unit again. If everything goes well with my 24 hour test and all leaks are sealed then I will mimic the first unit within a few days and drop some seeds in a cup.

I am getting really excited, so I have to continue to wait patiently. I don't want to rush the plans this time and get something wrong or inaccurate. Plus, if I do it right this time I will not have to redo it --thus no down time between grows. ;) G'nite everyone!

So the result are in...kinda. Seems as though after in taking some thc, and then checking on the temps, I inaccurately thought it had been 28 hrs when it had only been 16. Good news though after 16 hours the highest was 85F, and averaging 84F. This is excellent news even though I shut off the lights a bit prematurely. I, undoubtedly, believe that this unit will pass a 24 hour test with good numbers. With that said, I was unable to get to my local hardware store to see if they carry reusable adhesive. v12, has suggested this to me via pm and it seems like a great alternative to weather stripping; less mess, reusable, and has better light blocking qualities. I am hoping that my local hardware store has this item of need because it will save me time and money on shipping. Wish me luck for tomorrow.

I already have a few pics but I want to wait and upload them all. This way I'll have a before and after type setup of the pics. Hope everyone is staying warm in this 'arctic blast' were having and talk to ya'll later.

Welcome back everyone,

I have had a few slight set backs. First off the reusable adhesive that v12 had suggested for my cracks isn't sold anywhere near me. Thus, I just got done ordering a few oz online. It is estimated to arrive this Wednesday or Thursday. Also, I will be needing a ph meter. I have found one on ebay for 19.99, but I think it takes some sort of solution. Link= http://cgi.ebay.com/Milwaukee-PH-600-Digital-pH-Tester-Meter-0-14-NEW_W0QQitemZ370312332597QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item563855c535#ht_600wt_1165 I just want to know if this is common and if this is the right kind of meter I need. I will order this tomorrow if I can get a quick response.

Thanks again for the help,

crazytrain, took a gander at your set up. Very nice grow, sucks that you had the same sort of heat issues as I did.

Quick update:

I have ordered the pH meter posted in the link above. I might have to get a solution, but I am hoping that some solution will be sent with it. The reusable adhesive is, also, on its way. Everything should be in this week, thus, this week should be my final week in setting everything up *pics coming soon*, and I will be germing my babies soon.

Hey Xander
The meter sounds good. The solution is used to calibrate it so you know it's accurate. They usually provide ph4 or ph7 solution and you adjust the meter so it measures it correctly. Calibration should be done every 6 months.
You'll love the blue stuff. Work it with your hands first to make it sticky.
Can't wait for the pics.

Hello everyone,

Got some, good newsed, quick updates for everyone. I got my pH meter in today and my blu stix in wednesday. Had a fairly busy weekend so I was only able to work on the comps one night [bit upset about this, but tonight I wasn't feeling well].

The blu stix are working just as I had imagined and needed [thanks v12 :)], however, I am still only about 95-99% "invisible". My trouble spots are around the cracks of the case dooring. I have decided to approach these troublesome spots by doubling or quadrupling up on mylar. I still have like 20ft on a roll just lying around. This might not be the case for everyone so I suggest black or reflective tape. Anyways I have noticed that if you fold the mylar in half and hold it up to a light that the light gets less dense*. I figure that even if there are still a few spots leaking light that I can band aid them up with more blu stix.

I have not tested my pH meter yet nor actually even open the package. Glad to hear that it only has to be calibrated every six months. I am assuming that there is no "each time you test" solution; IE paper test strips and their test solution?

If everything keeps going according to plan, I would like to have the first unit completely mylar'd by tomorrow night. If there are no leaks I will begin the first and final 24 hour heat test. The next night I will replicate the design onto the second unit so I can provide a step by step with pics on how to set up a similar grow unit. After or half way through the 24hr test depending on the stability I will start germination on 5 Auto Blueberry and 5 Auto AK47.

v12, thanks for the meter reassurance and the limitless use of the blu tac. Crazy enough no one sells reusable adhesive in the states; that I am aware of. Either way the blu tac was a great recommendation! I am wondering do you think the doubling up or more on the mylar will help at all? The blu stix really helped on the major trouble spots, but if I turn the lights off in the room one can still tell there is light in the case. When the lights are on it is close to impossible to tell that there is light in the case, but this only helps me so much excluding all over-night visitors.

Anyways with all that said, I am really hopeful that these babies will be up and running by the end of this weekend. Plantation will be soon after if not this weekend. Good night everyone.
