You can't save it, they dried out too fast. It should take
at least a week before your buds are dry after harvest. Smoke it or if you plan to sell it just do it at a big discount and let them know what happened, it'll still get you high so long as it didn't get too hot in the tent during drying.
Drying too quickly will cause terpenes to degrade and chlorophyll to break down too quickly generating that hay smell & taste.
Here's from my notes, this method works every time. The slower you can drag out the cure with these steps the better.
Drying & Curing for Quality
- Harvest plants when ready
- Chop branches into a length you can comfortably pluck the fan leaves off
- Pluck all fan leaves off the branches then hang on clothes hanger (Mainly shoot for leaves with long stems/tails)
- Hang clothes hanger in a dark room/tent/closet at 60-65 °F | 60-65% RH
- Have a ventilation fan or some form of fan to move air in the space but not directly blow onto the branches. Passive airflow is key to avoiding the grass smell from too fast of drying.
- Usually 14-16 days later the buds will be crispy and dry enough to trim (make sure stems snap and don't fold like a straw)
- Trim buds, remove excess stem and put into a sealed container
- Open the sealed container once a day for 10-20 mins and move buds around gently to aerate everything with fresh air until desired result.
