True but even the decent genetics should not smell like "hay" neither, so it all boils down to slowing down the dry before the cure.Get your hands on some elite genetics. Some strains are just bunk.
If your buds smell like "hay" they are drying too quickly period, end of story. Everyone can witch hunt all they want, blame what they want, but from MY tests in my low 40-50% humidity drying room hanging with the branches needs to be done to slow the dry process, before my buds were crispy in one day (resulting in battling "hay" smell for weeks/months) that was just too fast for my environment, although I accepted it until I had enough of battling with the "hay" smell. I implemented the cardboard box (U-Haul Deluxe clothes dresser) and hang with branches with most sugar leaves in the box, slowing the drying down almost perfectly.
Now everyone's environment is going to be different, this is where the trolling starts with everyone's reply because how you handle "YOUR" environment to dry WILL be different or maybe not, only YOU can figure that out.
Sad trolls will argue over the same thing, diluting the real progress when they should just open their eyes and do what is right for their grow enviroment and contribute to the better end result, better smelling, tasting, smoking medicine. Kind of like the "Legalize Weed" movement, it's really it's own worst enemy.
This is of course the laymen terms on the importance of slow dry, to ensure chlorophyll breakdown occurs optimally within the plant molecular structure. (Included in for the trolls that wanted a more "scientific" answer. I just spared it for the benefit of all growers no matter what level of experience. Thank you have a nice day.
