I'm not going to read through all this to see if somebody already answered. But if you have a medical reason to consume marijuana why are you detoxing? I am job searching and will have a drug test soon. I will not detox.
I will pop pos for thc. They will call me. They will ask if I have a reason. I will say yes. They say ok.

Because cannabis is still illegal federally in the United States, users of cannabis have fewer protections from discrimination in the workplace. In Oklahoma I have a few more than it seems OP has in Vermont, but there are still lots of jobs they can just decide to not hire me for if I piss hot. Thankfully my workplace has updated their policies to confirm that they will respect my medical decisions, but that is very much not the case for everyone.
RadicalRoss answered it. Basically in the US you are still fucked because of the federal issue which allows employers even in legal states to test you. I dont know how people have not sued the feds yet here honestly. If you had pill, they are fine with that. Even with a card, they discriminate basically.
