Drip System?

I was provided a list of things to get and was told this was ALL I would need (Plus my room, existing equipment and lights) and I could grow without soil.

I am not familliar with this method so since they dont have a Newbie Hydro, Areo Room here goes.

One paint bucket, with lid
one net pot
a small bag of grow rocks
a small bottle of GH Bloom
a small bottle of GH Micro
a six-inch air stone
a small package of aquarium tubing
a 10 dollar pump

What do I do with this (this is asuming that this will work, no offense to anyone who is attempting to help me but I never believe anything until I see it for my self, and then I only believe 50% of that.)

I got stoned and forgot the persons name I was speaking with (I can actually forget my own name if I get a siesure from a car accident, I died twice) so IF you remember me and see this post ... Refresh my memory and I have ????s

IN the mean time.
The PUMP, I am assuming this is a Fish tank air pump. Mine cost 7 bucks and outputs up to 2800cc per minute (Is this OK)

The Bucket with lid, They did not have lids so I just got the bucket, How important is the lid or can I use anything with a hole for the net pot?

I'm pretty sure I can find the tubing, any specific diameter and length?

The Rest

one net pot
a small bag of grow rocks
a small bottle of GH Bloom
a small bottle of GH Micro
a six-inch air stone

Suggestions where I can get this stuff, cost?

Well, I am assuming that this is going to be a Deep Water Cultivation system right?

Also please tell me the size of the paint bucket. I am assuming that it is going to be a 5 gallon bucket.

If it is 5 gallons I would think that you would want to add some kind of drip system to compliment it. Here is how I would do it:

Be sure to drill a small hole in the very top surface of the bucket so that you can run the air hose in and connect it to your stone at the bottom of the bucket.

Next thing you want to do is to get the following:

a 20 to 25 gallon resivoir
a small (smallest) submersable pump
a light sensitive cycle-stat timer
a few feet of half inch water hose
hydroton grow rocks or botanicare perlite mix growing medium
a drip ring (for hydroton) or drip line (2) with stakes (2) for perlite
2 1/2 inch connector pieces w/ gromets
extra air hose
an air hose splitter
1/2 inch hose cap

Hydroton may work better because it is a bit cleaner and it re-usable. It also will not fall through the holes in your basket like the perlite mix does. It does not hold water as long as the perlite mix does but the choice is up to you.

Now you will want to drill holes on the bottom of both your res adn you bucket. Insert the gromets and then insert the the 1/2" conector pieces. Use soapy water to get them in so they insert easily and seal up nicely. Use the 1/2" hose to connect the bottom of the res to the bottom of the grow bucket. GO ahead and fill the res with water. You will notice that the water level of the res with match with the water level of the bucket. Fill the res so that the water line is a few inches from the bottom of the basket. Go ahead and activate the air pump and be sure to run a stone to both the bucket and the res.

Once you have established a good water level go ahead and put the submersable water pump into the res and then conntect it to your half inch hose. Run the 1/2" hose to your bucket and once you have gotten close enough go ahead and cap it. Drill enough holes in the 1/2 tube so that you can either insert your drip ring or your dripper lines. For perlite you may want to use 2.

Fill your basket with you chosen growing medium and insert plant. Using the resivoir go ahead and add your nutes and adjust your ph. Make sure to mark the appropriate water level and once the water line falls add fresh water only to maintain the desired level. At this point plug you submersible pump into you cycle stat timer and set your desired watering schedule.

This is probably the most elaborate way to setup your system since you will be combing the best of both worlds of DWC and drip feeding systems.

If you only want to go with a single bucket setup you can do that too. Here is a good link to check out:

(AlternateThoughts.com) DIY Hydroponics - 1

The advantage of having a res is that you can add more buckets and expand your system to whatever size you want as long as you have the space and light.

Be sure to change your res once every 1-2 weeks.

Also, you may not want to use GH products since they leave a lot of salt residue. I highly reccomend Botanicare's Pure Blend Grow/Flower, Liquid Karma and CAL-MAG.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

oops when I said drill a hole in the bucket for your air hose line, I meant in the top of the basket.

Well... That is an addidtion to the Bubbler heh. Sounds quite high tech but yet small and workable. if you could contact me so we could chat more I would appreciate it

I'm lost. It sounds like you have a bubbler and sub is turning it in to a drip system. I think there have been some posts about bubblers. Didn't read them real close, you might want to though. If you decide to grow more plants you could use the bubbler for rooting clones.

Yes it does, but since no one else is fourthcomming on the bubbler, I would like to at least find out more about them.

No offence, but if you are having trouble trying to get a soil grow under your belt, i don't know if hydro would be right for you yet...

None Taken, I agree, But I am actually progressing quite well now (keeps fingers crossed) and just because I am a nervous, paranoid, worrying, doting over his (hopefully) little girl daddy, does not mean Im going to actually going to do a Hydro. But IF I ever do, I want to know ALL I can paoosibly learn about it before the attempt so that I can stop being shuch a nervous, paranoid, worrying, doting over his (hopefully) little girl, Daddy. Well that prolly wont happen, but at least I can be more secure that I know what I am doing before I do it. LOL

A true bubbler system has an irrigation manifold that pumps oxygenated water into the center of the net pots and mediumit also uses air stones below the net pots so its like a DWC + irrigation manifold....
