drip system question

hey i have a top drip system and I was wondering which is the best way to set it up.

A- have the buckets raised above the reservoir so no water sits at the bottom of the buckets.

B- have the buckets lowered so that there is 5 or 6 inchs of water in the bottom and add a air stone in the bottom of each grow bucket.

additional system info-

6 bucket top drip
50L res with air stone
Clay pellet medium in 5 galon buckets
1000w light mh (flower)
600w hps (veg)
humidity 55% veg 40%flower
temp 19c dark 24c day
advance sensi nutes with h202
cloned and veged for 3 weeks in bubbleponics system
veg and flower room have the same 6 bucket drip system
scrog and mild defoliation

any additional suggestion would be sweet thank you.

In veg I wouldn't worry about a res on the bottom. Most plants roots don't end up searching to far in veg so you won't see to many of them pop out the bottom I bet.

Even in flower although it's where it would "maybe" benefit. That water is really run-off (waste water) and not what actually just went in. You can get nute lock out if things are off in the run-off and the plant is taking it back up.

That's why a lot of people just do run to waste or dtw. The water that is run-off is only 5-20% of what you just put into them and not equal to one another. This way you know your girl's are getting fresh nute's every time.

Its more important to make sure the roots are getting a lot of air exchange is where you would see the most difference in growth. The root's need oxygen while the plant needs the water.

evo8-thanks! i have a few more questions tho, they way i currently have my water supply is with a 1/8 line that is always going(flower) so if i redirected the return line to a separate "waste" res i would be filling my res 3 times a day, so should i buy some dripper ends for my supply water to make it last longer and if i do that will that supply enough water to the plants? im just about to harvest my first grow so im still a noob...i just read a shit load.

Honestly how close r u to harvest? Don't fix what ain't broken in my eyes. Maybe fix for NEXT grow?

just my 2 cents

ya i might beable to get some pics on later....im close to harvest i have already harvested one plant but the autoflowering and all grown from separate seeds and 2 are bubbleious and 4 are wappa so they are all over the place when it comes to bud development. So what i have been doing is checking the trics with my 60x magnifier and when i see 1 or 2 orange trics i put it in a 5 gal bucket full of fresh water with 2 4inch water stones aka flush bubleponics system. I flush for 5 days.

the smallest plant plant i harvest is about a week into drying/curing but my guess is close to 2 oz so im pretty stoked.

ya im always reading about stuff im trying to save up for the gear for my veg room 6 pot drip and a 600w mh and my plan is to have a bubleponics system of 6 clones + mother plant under cfls for 1.5 months then move them to the veg room drip system for another 1.5 months and then finally flower under 1000w HPS. Also useing FIM scrog and mild defoliation (might try super cropping). and then have a cycle of 6 plants every month and a half yeilding hopfully 4 dried oz per plant.

Since its a top drip bucket system the rez should always be lower than the buckets otherwise the return line won't work correctly
